  2. Gents,

Fished the shelf and beyond today 4-3-1!

Started the troll 8nm out of Botany going round acouple of FADS and over the Shelf in search of Pelagic action!!!!!!

Got the first strike just North of the Mountain, which was a short 30 second run before hooks spat (I think a small YFT)

So from the mountain we worked North West........just about a mile or so before the shelf we have a lovley Striped come up and take the Short corner, again a 30 second run and dropped, continued to work the area and within 15 minutes we had a Big Blue on the long corner and a Striped on the Short Rigger (PANDEMONIUM)

The striped was a short lived 80-100mtr run the dropped but the Big Blue Stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on the bugger for 1:55minutes, the fish came to the boat in a unrevivable state. So we chose to take him in to the weigh station!!!!!!!!

Topped out at 157kgs on 24kg test, my largest Marlin to date but i would of liked to see him swim free.........God they got alot of heart!!!!!!!!!!

I must thank Dannny a Waffy for another awesome day on the 35

  4. Thanks for all the good wishes guys, its always a great experience putting someone onto there first Beakie especially at 15yrs..........Should be out again on the weekend, anybody else planning a run???????

    Regards,

  5. Gents,

Was out today on the 35, had Dennis (Reel Game) on board (Thanks mate).......Conditions were less than ideal with a 20-25 knot N/E blowing, however the swell was non existent and with 2-2.5 mtrs of sea the Carribean pushed through with ease. Got out about 14nm before we started putting out the spread, found some nice 22.2 degree water!!!! The spread was out for five minutes and Double hook up on Jelly Bean YFT 3kgs a first for my young mate Danny............. Back out goes the spread and Dennis and i spot a Beakie tailing the shot gun before dissapearing!!!!!!! We continued on a run to th Mountain then headed North to find water temp drop and the green water we didnt like, so decided to troll south again down the shelf then in to 80 fathoms...

Just noticinig a huge container ship MSC heading in to Botany, the short corner screams...............metres of line are peeling of as Dennis clears the deck with Dannys help, i slow the boat down and come flying down the bridge to grab the rod and keep the tension. Meanwhile Dennis gets Danny (15yrs) harnessed up and ready........Its all yours kid!!!!!!!!

About 45 to 50 minutes later we havehim boatside, Dennis grabs the trace and i gaff!!!!!!! First Beakie for the boat and Danny, about an 80kg Striped Marlin on board with high fives all round.......... Good effort young fella, a day iam sure he wont forget!!!!!!!!!!!! We trolled back to the 50 fathom mark before we called it a day.........

    Another day on the 35........

    Regards,

    Steve (Outwide)

  6. Hi Steve

AHHH your report is pain to me, though must have been fun for u.

We went Nth out to the BB fad then wide of that to the 140m mark, trolled for quite a few hrs before running in ahead of the wind.

We went all 0000s for the day on the pelagics.

Were did u go to get your fin??

    Jon

    jj,

I think going North was a bit optimistic, looking at the charts all the temp breaks were South and thats were i was......... Around 25nm Southeast of Botany, we ran into water that was 17.6 degrees out on the shelf so we pushed further east then we found a break!!!!!!! Water jumped from 17.6 degrees to 20 degrees, thats what i look for..........As soon as we croosed to the warmer temp we were hooked up!!!!!!!! continued to work the area all day, at times the YFT were jumping out of the water........Although they were smaller models still alot of fun!!!!

    Regards,

    Steve (Outwide)

  8. Thank keepintabs..imma have to go out and get me a few!

    DAN

    Dan,

As Tabsy mentioned they are the Gold...........There are 2 models in the 50 series the 50W and the 50WLRS

the later of the two has 18kg of drag pressure so you could run 37kg line class if you wished.........

    Regards,

    Steve (Outwide)

  9. Gents,

Thanks for all the good wishes, will be posting more reports as the Reels Scream........Great site and a good read, good luck to all wetting a line this week........

brettm-c i was only skippering for a mate who just bought the boat (wish it was mine)

Unfortunatley mine is only 5.5mtr Trailcraft, but that will be upgraded in the not to distant future to big brother the 660 Centre Cab fitted with twin 90 Yam's.........I will post a pick upon delivery

    regards,

    Steve (Outwide)

  10. Gday Raiders,

I have been a long time reader of this great forum and it was time i shared a report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had the chance to skipper a brand new 35ft Carribean today, headed south to look for the Southern Fad which by the way is not out yet!!!!!!! So decided to troll further Southeast to the canyons....... As we reached the canyons hooked up for a minute before the fish spat the hooks.........All was looking good, continued toward the Southern Canyons mark when the 50W starts screaming after 15 minutes a nice Yft landed.......The first for the boat, and my mate absolutley stoked..... Ended up workin that same area for half an hour more before heading N/E for a couple of mile and on again........Double hook up on 24 and 15!!!!!!! The fish on 24 was landed but the one on 15 spat the hooks just at the boat, we then trolled back to the 80 fathom mark for 0's.........

Top day on the water and couple of good fish on the deck, lets hope we get some good weather......They are still there!!!!!!!!

    Regards,

    Steve (Outwide)
