  1. Mate a deep V centre console is the way to go! Ive been fishing out of my Boston Whaler 240 Outrage with twin 150HP Verados for nearly 5 years now and she does exactly what the other blokes are talking about in earlier posts. A "big" little boat. At 24 feet she is capable of getting out there all day at a fraction of the cost of the bigger gamefishing platforms. Stable, dry and solid in any sea she is a weapon. Up for sale at the moment shoot me a PM if your interested. Would love to see her go to a fellow raider.

  2. here are a few pics of one of the ones I picked up recently.. sure sounds like them. Mine had black on the end of the nippers.

  3. I caught a few males of these in the last couple of months up in port stephens and a mate of mine reckons they are a type of coral crab that are normally found up north?! I released the ones I caught too as wasn't sure what they were.

  4. Andy ive got a set of the springers that roberta posted i can set you up with

i got 2 sets and never got around to putting them in my boat

they even glow in the dark

thanks for the offer mate but do they go through the gunnels? I just hesitate to cut holes in the boat! haha

Got lotsa rod holders though ;-)

  5. Hi raiders

the solution i use is simple and cheap to, all you need is a piece of thin cane, or bamboo might work about index finger thick and then push on the end a piece of garden hose and leave about an inch above the top of the cane and put a small slice down the middle (15mm) to split it in half, then place in rod holder and place line in the cut in the hose and away you go hope this helps.

    radz

Thanks Radz that is a great idea and cheap/easy too.

  6. A couple of little things I do these days that have made my life alot easier;

Elastic bands - in sizes for livebaits, outriggers and for storing lure rolls

Small bucket to drop lures/jigheads/hooks etc into.. This is the bucket dedicated to being washed with fresh and sprayed with inox back on the dock.

Rolls of that non-skid matting ($8 bucks from bunnings) to create a baitstation anywhere on the boat. Knives dont cut through it and fish/baits dont slide on it.

Use tubs to transport gear - having two tubs that can fit inside each other means you have a spare to transport any fish/ice home.

A4 plastic insert sheets to store livebait traces

Cut pool noodles into segments to store large baitjigs/multihook rigs. Just wrap them around and secure with elastic bands.

have a chammy on board to wipe down alloy bars/consoles etc on cleanup.. they really bring out a nice shine after a spray of fresh.

there are a million more!!! haha
