  1. Ok I'll give that a shot. Do u mean tilted up ?

Yes i flushed it upright then tilted it up and at different angles in forward and reverse but couldn't get it to do it again . Has it only happened the one time

  2. Hi all,

I took my boat out yesterday and noticed there was an odd crunching sound while the motor was being tilted down. Once I stopped tilting, the crunching sound went away. This only seems to happen while the boat is moving. It doesn't happen on land.

Has anyone ever had this ? And if so, what was it? Also, any tips would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

It happened to my Yamaha once . I was coasting in to the beach beside the ramp and started to tilt the motor and got the crunching sound . Got home and flushed it . Tried the motor tilted while flushing . Only did it the once . Haven't had any trouble since

  3. This mostly happens during the holiday period due to the once a year users! It's frustrating but the way I find to combat this, is to get out early and get back early!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

Had the grandkids here and you know how hard it is getting teenagers up early :)

  4. If they can't remember something as simple as passing a oncoming vessel port to port,I'd hate to see them try to interpret all the signs and symbols on the waterways.

Same goes to some of the clowns you encounter on our roadways.

It just gets magnified during the holiday periods I think alot of these people forget to take their brains and common sense with them.

    Cheers.

I'm guessing they only use the boat once or twice a year and simply forget a lot of the rules . Should really brush up on the rules before heading out on the water . Add to that being it is very busy up here at Christmas you have boats anchored fishing but you still get boats not even attempting to slow down when passing next to them .

  5. I am amazed when it comes to holiday season how many don't know this simple rule when approaching a vessel head on in a narrow channel . I live at Forster Keys and to get to the Keys you have to go through a narrow channel . I was on the far right of the channel doing the 4 knot limit approaching the end of the channel . This boat turned into the channel i would guess doing the 4 knot limit . Did he move to his starboard . No . He wanted to pass on my starboard side . He was a bit perplexed when i started pointing to my port side . He eventually decided to pass on my port side .

  6. Sure would mid coast. Email the software makers and see if they are compatible with windows

Checked out ozz_bretts idea . Getting a tablet with a built in GPS and will use the navionics app on it . Cheaper than an ipad and appears to work just as good .

  7. I agree still have not found a purpose for an Ipad or Tablet other then to occupy the missus with games "candy crush" while you sneak a decent computer out the door!

I'd have buckleys of sneaking her ipad out the door .

  8. I run a HDS5 sounder/gps split screen . Will the navionics for the HDS5 work in a laptop . I am inexperienced with charts on laptops . What would I require apart from the gps dongle . The reason I ask is because the laptop with the bigger screen will be easier to read . Sorry if its been asked before .

  9. Been with Marine Rescue for a couple of years now and there is still a big mix of VHF and 27 Meg being used . From what i have been told the 27 Meg will be around for quite a while yet . In saying that VHF is a lot better system to use as others have said . The course is pretty easy so should have no issues with it .
