  1. I brought my current used motor from up near the qld boarder from a marine dealer they where more than happy for me to organize my own courier and they packed it up safe on a pallet for me at no charge. I would defiantly ask to see a video of it running and service history as well

I payed them by bank transfer did not have a problem

  2. Is the garmin echomap 70s touch combo a good fishfinder/gps? There on sale at the moment for $849 RRP is $1200 from a well know boating and camping store And i am in the market for a decent combo unit for the new boat not really looking to spend any more than $850 even this is streching the budget.

  3. need a bit of advice i have choosen hydrualic steering over cable steering for a new boat i am building and the motor is a 30hp black motor and when i tilt the motor up the steering cylinder hits the screw clamps and stops the motor from reaching full tilt

my motor does not have the clamps it is bolted on so can i cut them off where i have marked in the photo i have added???

The manual that came with the steering says to cut them off if it was a bigger motor where there is only stubs there

  4. I was up at Lake Macquarie for a couple of days and the amount if people going the wrong way down the channel was stupid, also the channel is always full of boats during the holiday period, I'm surprised there isn't more accidents.

Tell me about it I was camping at the sand islands at pelican for a week and when going down the channel to swansea shops boats where all over the place did not have a clue how to use the markers. even anchoring dead smach in the middle of the channel at night some without lights. Was even a couple boats towing tubes in the channel too
  5. Only thought to check because i already checked everything else and when someone on another site and a local mechanic said it could be the clutch dog in the gear box. I Stripped the gear box down and the clutch dog edges were rounded and same on the gears. The replacement engine came with a spare gear box and it had the same problem but the clutch dog was round over alot more than mine where so that made me feel good knowing that it was the cause of the skip all along.

  6. Yes i really cleaned the carby good a full tin of carby cleaner and reset the carby float and checked the main jets.

Yes i also checked the wires coming from the flywheel they all seem good.

also checked the harness that goes to the key i even disconnected it and still the same so i have ruled a couple of things out

When i got the boat i had to completly rewire the harness under the hood and had the wiring diagram so i know thats all right

    Im located at toronto nsw

  7. Thanks flickn Mad After replacing the fuel tank and fitting i have ruled out fuel and know thinking it is elecrical the only electronics that are under the hood are the coils have replaced them still the same problem. The power pack and stator

Yes the coils are connected the the right cylinder and the timing is fine

dont think it is the coils as it will start and run fine at idle even after sitting a week and with no choke it is just when you go over quarter throttle it starts missing. dont wont to go out and buy a new power pack as they are expensive and if it does not fix the problem im out of pocket $220 for something i did not need

  8. Ok so took it to the mechanic today they checked the compression it was at 145psi each cylinder. They then put a test prop on and put it in the test tank it was missing like i told them they then said it was a air leak at the fuel tank sucking air changed the tank and it seemed to go away. Will take it for a spin on friday to see if it fixed fingers crossed.

The marine mechanic i took it too i would very recomnend them
