  3. I'm heading to Jervis bay this weekend at the caravan park. Wonder if it's flooded or affected by recent rains. Does anyone know?

I don't think it will be flash unfortunately :( Give them a call and check they were not flooded?

    Thanks for the reply

November I'll be staying crook haven tourist park

October I'll be staying huskisson side

I'll try the lake when I'm on crook haven side.

My old man said when he was young guys used to anchor up opposite the crook haven wharf/boat ramp.

I'm sure there is no Prawning in JB its self.

But I'll give woolumboola lake and the greenwell point / crook haven mouth a go then Stgeorge basin ago when I'm on that side.

I'm knowledgable about times and moons and run out tides ect just more after locations that ppl have herd of were ppl are getting prawns.. Bit of fun

As for crookhaven follow Zacnoels advice on that area, When you head over to husky, as he said the eastern edge of the basin you can wade through the water and scoop them..

Years ago we also used to go up Currembean creek in the boat of a night and scoop them up using lights and nets.

  4. i think there was 1000 in travel cover and them rear curtain so if you only wated the bimini launcher and from clear $1500 wold easily cover it.

I needed the travel cover cause of the miles i tow boat, and the curtain provides security for overnight stays.

As i said, im wrapped with it and if you want to talk to the guys who did mine look for someone who does "mobile" boat covers ;)

  5. Depending on what nexus you have?

I have a Nereus 1000 (its probably 5yr old now) and also a 1000 sienna and the nereus is a much smoother reel. I have had no issues with it myself. its possible that some water has gotten in? When you say its not smooth what exactly do you mean? the drag or when you wind the reel?

It may be worth sending it back to the factory if its only a few months old. I have a few of the Viva reels including the nereus, some browning baitrunners, a Nereus baitrunner two metaliums and some of the new crusis range. While not in league of the high end shimano stuff its also a lot cheaper.

  6. Description

The fish catching ability of the Jig-Em rig is widely known amongst the fishing community and has claimed fish such as flathead, dolphin fish, Coral trout, Mackerel, Salmon and many other species.

Jig-em rigs come rigged with 3 baits, hooks and trace... ready to be tied to your main line & fished!

The variety of colours results in a versatile range of lures that are suitable for most species in salt and fresh water.

Due to the versatility of the range they can be fished in numerous ways in unlimited conditions. The classic way of fishing the Jig-Em rigs was to attach a snapper sinker and let the rig drop to the bottom, once on the bottom use a jerking action to give the lures action. However with the introduction of soft baits such as prawn, stick bait and shad the Jig-Em Rigs can be fished mid water, slow trolled or even retrieved slowly along the bottom.

Available in 7 colours, in 9cm or 13cm versions.

  7. So while I agree with you that adding a small amount of metho is an effective method of removing water I would add to that -- only if you are going to consume the whole tank of fuel within a very short period of time

Fully agree with this if you add metho..

But in the initial case, 3 months 25lt fuel in 160lt tank, fill it up and get going.. If any water in your water separator drain It and off you go again.. No issues.

  8. Is there anywhere on NSW south coast to buy bulk bait, particularly pilchards so I can salt them and freeze into my own containers for use. Would prob do the same with prawns etc, as ill have a dedicated bait freezer at my holiday house.

  9. spoke to local carpeter today, he said as long as gaps between tiles not to big then gluing edge strips down and good carpet and underlay no issue. recommended a solution died carpet (i want hard wearing over looks with kids n dogs) .. will get more details and quote once im in the house.

  10. Exactly, If you do buy more game reels/rods then your obliged to buy a bigger boat, for safety reasons as you cant fish offshore in a 5.5m boat, and that would require a bigger 4x4 to tow it, so ill just have to get the wife to sell a few of her horses and get a second job as ill have to work less to make sure all this money im spending is not going to waste... Not sure of my chances!!

I'm with you swifty. A few hundred for rods and lures will have to suffice for now.

  11. Im in same boat (pun intended) as you... Most of my game fishing is from friends bigger boat but on occasion id like to troll in my own. I have lures and a 15kg and a 24kg rods. I also have a 80lb jigging rod that with 600m braid ill probably use to run the hard body and then run 2 skirts off the 2 game rods.

Otherwise when pulling livies at the closer in bait grounds, 2 rods is more than enough.

really isn't worth the expense of more rods and outriggers, not until I get that explorer 685 with twin yammies and full compliment of tiagra's........... one can dream right?

  12. Its funny how people prefer some brands of fuel over others, Do you know what happens when Shells stocks are low, the servos get their fuel from Caltex and visa versa, happens all the time, just because you buy from a shell servo don't mean its shell fuel. All the major fuel companies share between them as far as I know.

As for 3 month old fuel, top up with fresh fuel and it will be fine, 3 months is no issue, any condensation will be picked up by water separator or burnt off anyway.
