  1. Hey Fellas, iam looking at getting a cheapish combo to use on inshore reaf's for snapper, moey'and the odd Kingy i wand it to be suitable for salt water estuaries, fishing of the kayak. I noticed BCF have the Shimano Sienna 4000 paired with the sonic pro spin rod for a great price and was looking at pairing it with 6-8 kg braid. I already have a heavy duty over head boat rod for bait fishing.

I have used the Sienna 2500 before and was very impressed just not sure if the 4000 will be big enough for in shore reef spinning.

    Thanks,

  2. If you want to fish from the beach at Pretty there is some good whiting on the right hand side of the beach. There is also a great little reef that holds massive snapper etc about 40 m out from the rocks from Pretty on the left hand side just in from snapper point.

  3. Say you only had a couple of standard fishing kayaks, a full day at your disposal. You wanted to fish somewhere in or just outside of sydney, where you can get amongst Pelagics, Flathead and bream. Where would you fish and why?

  4. If only I had of read this sooner. Whent down there today as a young fella I work with wanted to catch some flathead for his family dinner, and have had success here in the past. Any way we picked up a few nice flathead that will live to fight another day.

  5. I am heading up to Avoca for a boys weekend and looking at wetting a line. I have never fished the area, is it worth giving the lagoon a go at the moment? If so what should we target?

    Cheers.

  6. It is my 30th in March next year and on my bucket list is to pick up a Thumper Barra, so instead of the 30th thinking of chasing monster barra. I live in Sydney and would not get more than 5 days off work and have at least 1 mate who would join me. So my question is what would be my best option for cost effectiveness, and chance to get this thumper fish.

Option 1: drive up, swag it and fish the dams on the bass and barra trail, from the kayak. For this I would need to get heavier gear.

Option2: fly up to Bundaberg stay at a dam and go out on charters.

option 3: Fly to Cairns? And go out on charters.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

  7. So i have recently caught the bass fishing bug after purchasing an entry level kayak, fishing the Emu Plains section of the Nepean. As of yet we have not found a killer lure we have fallen in love with. My question is what is your favourite bass lures for diving, surface, and plasitcs?

    Thanks Andrew.

  8. Gzola I have camped there a lot the hike is easy to navigate the web site is correct. I have fished there in winter a tiny bit while I was suppose to be working, and pulled in a nice flathead i have seen plenty of bream and flathead caught out of there. On prawns and plastics especially on the incoming tide. In saying this it was about 6 years ago, keep meaning to Yak up there and camp.

  9. Great job on the input guys this is great thread very informative. On the 20th of Sept me and a mate will be heading out from boat to chase some Jewies for the first time, we are going to launch from lower portland at first light and fish the run out tide. Any one got some advice for fishing this specific area, fished it before for ep and bass. I am going to try to catch a few mullet the day before.
