  1. My wife and I use 9lbmono line with 30lb trace and have never been snapped off not even close to being snapped off

everybody always talks about using 20-30lb main line off the beach but in my personal experience that is way too much over kill

my wife is a very inexperienced fisher i have her rod rigged with 9lb and she had no problems

++with the lighter line you can get better distance and less chance of the fish being spooked by it

besides it takes all the fun out of the fight if you can just skull drag in your fish with 20lb main line

The lighter the better thats my opinion

  2. Greetings all

regarding salmon not tasting good, just try the follow recipe, you will never pass by another salmon again.

in a bowl, have prechopped fress tomatoes, in very fine pieces, in it add some salt, crushed fresh garlic,

    and finely chopped onions.

place a few table spoons of vegetable oil in a large chinese wok, heat it up real good.

Then add in quickley your diced salmon pieces (roughly one inch squares). as soon as these salmon

pieces get white, quikly add in your bow of tomatoes, onions and garlic,

stir this for a few minutes, (about 2 minutes), then take off and serve.

the trick to this method, is that it a quick cook up, so the salmons natural oil, will not overcook and

become bitter, nor would the tomatoes,

try it, you will absolutely love it.

thats similar to what i do but i add some capcicum and some fresh chilli to my salsa and i fry the salsa for a minute or so

i cook the salmon in filleted strips in a flat pan with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt the olive oil really adds a nice flavour to the fish. The fish does stick a bit so you have to be carefull 1 turn only takes about 2-3min to cook

then put fish on plate and top with the warm salsa

  3. But the one bad thing about Alvey reels is that are a one to one ratio reel, which just means for every turn you make thats all you get back where as a baitrunner has a 6:1 or 5:1 ratio which means for every trun of the handle you get 5 or 6 rolls back

yeah thats right but the alvey has a much larger wheel so 1 full circle is probably close to 5 baitrunner circles anyway... if you know what i mean

  4. she wasn't that into fishing but im still in the process of converting her. So the social was a good excuse to come and mingle with other fisho ladies ...maybe next time ill get there

and i knew if i could get her into a spot where she could get an awsome catch like a sambo flying out of the water like it was a marlin she would be hooked...its working as you can see by the look on her face after landing the first and best catch of the day

  5. aw man i didnt get that msg aw well maybe next time

  6. As you can see when they hit they hit well......All of the fish we caught were legal and the largest went around 74cm...no massive ones but we ended up with a tally of about 25 kings using a mixture of squid heads, strips and whole squid....the good thing was we got many of our baits back as you can see in one of the videos....

sorry i must have miss understood they probably didnt take 25 home

  7. well we went down for the social but had no luck finding anyone so we went fishing anyway off the opening of the channel

probably about 6:20am after waiting at the council park for 25minutes we had no luck at first it wasnt till about 10am that tash (my wife) caught her first ever big fish.... with no assistance from me....

  12. i hit the entrance all the time i use a 12ft custom made beach rod with an alvey reel ive got about 700mtrs 9lb line ive never needed anything stronger and ive pulled in some beautys from there i use a 30lb trace with depending on the weather anything from a size 2 to a size 5 ball sinker running i have a 3 hook gang size 4/0 long shank and i use pillies mainly when im using squid or fillets i use a size 6/0 suicide.

maybe you could use a stronger trace

but i like the fight and the rush of pulling in big fish on light lines theres nothing like it
