  1. Boys what can I say. Chappo rang me on the way home and was still buzzing he also sent the photo's to me at work. Awesome is all I can say, although Brian you need to put more detail in your reports lol!! Kind regards, Hutcho

  2. Mondo,

What can I say!! Just another life adventure with a great mate. I don't how we are gunna top that? I can't stop thinking about what a great time that was and the great people we met. Barra certainly set a level playing field what a fantastic sport fish.

I hope we can work out a plan to get back up there for next year. Steve is a champion bloke and a barra fishing guru.

Simply one of the best fishing trips I have ever had. For the rest of the raiders just do it, you won't be dissapointed Darwin is special.

Anyway time to attack the reds when the weather settles down.

    Regards, Hutcho

  3. Hi Ray, Great post and awesome pics. Did you outfish Hutch???? Had the family out on the Hawkesbury today and landed a 70cm Flathead.

    Chappo

Hey Guys pretty even in the fish catching stakes but everyone's a winner camping. The rod bend was as a result of a large salmon than ended up bending my size 4 whiting hook straight. Great time up there as usual. Hitting the sack early for a very very early start to target snapper at our favorite spot. Got 30 or so the other day so we are pretty stoked to be havning another crack. Hopefully a good post tomorrow. Hutcho and Ray back in town and hopefully on fire.

  4. Hi Mondo,

Great report it was good to see you so stoked to catch that fish. It just goes to show that you just have to have a go. Hey that rythmes!! Anyway, this is going to be a cracker season so the next big challenge is our full day on nothing but poppers. Stay tuned raiders for another great adventure.

  5. Great first post.

Good to see you found the flatties they have been a bit hit and miss of late. Good on you for letting the big girl go. It would appear most people realise the importance this to future fishing stocks.

    Regards, Hutcho

  6. Thanks Mondo for another great fishing adventure, just when you think you have it nailed the fish take off. I promised you big models but they were not there so I reckon we do a late arvo today and we WILL find them. I have calmed down a bit overnight so all is good and ready to cast again and again.

    Regards, Hutcho

  7. Jack,

Thanks for a great `early morning' and I mean early fishing trip. As you know I was sceptical but seeing with my own eyes was litterly amazing and a couple of big ticks on my bucket list. You are a very very good fisho, and a reminder that persistance and confidence pays off when fishing with plastics. Don't worry about the jewy and the net incident. It takes two to tango and I consider it was tagged and released anyway, it was certainly a nice fish.

You actually think like a bloody fish. Can't wait to attack the reds.

    Thanks again Jack.

    Regards,Hutcho

  8. Love Windang,

I learnt to fish and prawn there with my grandparents every summer holidays as a kid many, many years ago in the 60s and 70s. I remember, getting squirt worms and chasing whiting on the flats. I also stood up for the first time on my foamy at Windang beach. Great to see the fishing is still good, I'll have to go back and see how it has changed. Do they still have the small boats moored near the bridge?

    Regards, Hutcho

  9. Hey Mondo and fellow Fishraiders,

Sorry about my late response but hey better late than never my excuse is a bad case of F3 jetlag. Anyway had a great time out with Bristo and Ray with a couple of huge Bonnies. At first we thought we had latched onto a couple of good reds as the fish were taking the bait off the bottom mainly.

For info, I have had the 480 now for three years and Ray and I have given it a fair beating in all kind of conditions both inside and out. The boat handles well but as usual you must make good decisions and weigh up the conditions before sticking your head out. The Coastrunner is set up really well for fishing with a good stable platform and everything is at your fingertips. The only negative is, like most aluminium boats, short chop can get quite uncomfortable if you push it. Nowdays we just kick back and take our time so we are not getting slammed.

In short if you don't push it the 480 is fine for close in reef fishing in the right conditions. If in doubt, don't!! is always my mantra.

I say buy a boat and get into it.

    Regards, Hutcho (the elusive one)

  10. Mondo,

Thanks for Sunday a great session in quick time. Plenty of fish and I think you beat me by 18 -v- 17. The best fun was watching the sounder, finding the fish and then calling it and bang your on!!! We will just have to find those bigger ones so I can bring something back to the table.

    Regards, Hutcho

  11. Bagus GT's,

Bali fishing is just awesome with a few of the Locals starting to run charters from Kuta. The popper fishing is excellent around Ulu's reef system. Ask around for a older local called Eddie down near Kuta reef and he will hook you up.

    Regards, Hutcho

  12. Hey Mondo,

Nice flathead where is he? Got a call from Mr Pegas today who is heading up to the Harbour in January so we will have to make the trip again and flog him and Chappo. Anyway if Sunday looks OK maybe a bash for the Kingies and try a couple of other strategies to maybe pick up a bigger one eh.

Good photo's and a pristine afternoon at Davo.

    Happy Days, Hutcho

  13. Gents,

You blokes have way too much time on your hands to catch all these fish. AND i'm getting worried. Look at those photos. Matching shirts, hats, sunnies, camera poses and grinnnnns. I'm sooo jealous. I had 4 arvos at Split Rock Dam for 2 lousey carp last week. Mind you one was about 30 pound. well not really but almost. The Split Rock Monster. Wish I was back on the salty water :(

Ray is that a whale breaching behind you?

Wait until Chappo and I get teamed up again and the fish off is on again. This time minus the wind I hope.

    Well done fellas!

    Cheers,

    Brian.

    G'day Brian,

Hope you are well mate. Ray and I are up for another fish-off so let us know when you are back in town. Just doing some research for an upgraded sounder and other techo stuff to put us on the money. The fish the other day were thick, I haven't seen so many salmon there were thousands of them and they were huge. The kingies were under them but frustrating just under size. Anyway catch up soon.

    Regards, Hutcho
