got out by 6 am but there was no action until about 10 am. Had some big sambos chasing my poppers hooked one right at the rocks but it spat the hooks on the first jump. Kept at it for a while, then changed to a raider and hooked up on the 3rd cast after a series of strikes with no connection... The hooks we set well enough for me to let it exhaust its self with acrobatics and runs. My mate got down on the lower ledge and helped land it There were a few more hookups and frustrating chases but no more fish landed.
Well done mate..
Where about were you fishing?

Bithry is a tidal inlet about 20 minutes north of tathra salmon all year round much bigger models in winter obviously and during summer usual suspects like flathead and bream. Wouldn't bother chasing bream or flatties till he water warms up there though at the moment at 13 degrees the salmon are loving it though
ah right. .. thanks mate!

hey mate,
whereabout is Bithrey Inlet, NSW ?
thanks!

Hey W4z,

thanks mate!

Great work man! Nice to get a couple of good fish after a drought. I've had pretty much the exact same experience over the past couple of months, been praying for the better weather to kick in.
Also yet to get any fish on vibes, I can get them vibrating in the water okay, but they're so expensive I'm almost afraid to use them. I saw in Ray's Outdoors they're $12.99 each, but today you could get 5 for $25. Thought about picking some up, but went for the plastics instead.
Get the vibes from Kmart and metal lures.. They are cheap and work great!

Spykey... Any tips for Maroubra beach?
Yeps,
like tef1on said.
But I always fish infront of the club and use metal lures.. targetting salmon... but you will get heaps of flathead as well..
-
I always fish maroubra beach..
never tried lurline bay
-
Yeps sea was rough as this weekend...
I went to maroubra beach and the waves were huge.. managed to get only a flatty..
-
Well done mate!
Didn't go fishing today, swell was too high..
I might go tomorrow during the day.. as usual Maroubra beach.

Nice Salmon !

When off the beach... cut the head off and put them head down into the sand to bleed them when you're still fishing... then smoke them! Get that dark meat out OR make fish cakes out of them!
Good fun on light gear! Just casting in the surf? North or South? I found by the rubix cube a productive spot for Salmon!
Yeah mate,
First salmon so didn't know
Next time, i'll bleed it..
I was fishing just in-front of the surf club..
Never fished infront of the rubix, i might try.. couldn't sport any gutters there this morning..
-
Definately an Aussie salmon. Need to be bleed straight away. Only really good for fish cakes or cat food. Nice catch though!
Cheers scratchie!!!
hmm... how do you bleed it straight away?
Thanks mate!

Nops didn't jump but I knew it was something decent as it was pulling really hard..
Then started going sideways.. Just couldn't stop it..
But managed to land it
Heaps of fun.
That lure is allright, cost only $3.50 from K-mart...
got couple of undersize flatties on it as well..
-
Not a salmon because the meat is red and white.. and not orange like salmon..
That is why I thought it will be a Tuna and not salmon.
-
Had success this morning with my new metal lure. Caught my fish pelagic fish 50cm long..
Heaps of fun on light gear.

Where about is the best spot to fish off tamarana beach?
-
I fished rosebay once and got 1 whiting and a flathead.
My mate got a Bream.
All on SP off the beach at running out tide.
-
Just make sure it's edible, if its something you're not sure of it's identity, post a pic up here before serving it up for dinner and you'll get a response pretty quickly as to what it is and whether it's any good to eat.
Will keep that in mind..
Thank you!

Makes sense.
Thank you!

Hi raiders,
I would like to know what rules apply to fish that is not listed in the recreational fishing guide here http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/regulations/sw/sw-bag-and-size
For example, if i catch some dart fishes off the beach, how do I know if I can take it home or not as it is not listed in the above guide.
Thank you!

Will wait for his fishing report if he managed to land some big salmon or drummer
-
Well done mate.
Is this at little bay? I am just guessing by looking at the rocks behind you.
-

I didn't make it before 5.30pm and it was already dark..
so didn't get the rod out
Went to maroubra beach in the morning though and got 7 undersized flatties on Halco Twisty...
