  1. Go the 80 I pilot. will hold the boat better. Had the 55 in my 450 hornet and now 80 in my 535 barcrusher. The 80 will work with less effort and last longer.

Shop around as there was a speical on the 80 at the same price as the 55 a few months ago. Got mine for $2,399.

  2. Hi All,

Being a novice fisho / boat owner, can anyone enlighten me on the performance advantages of a stainless prop over an alloy one, pitch and size being same on a 90hp suzuki 4 stroke.

    Cheers

  3. Hi All,

I'm in the process of fitting a bow plate to my alloy boat.

My first choice would be to weld it on and was wondering if I need to do anything to the motor so as not to spike the computer ?

I can not remove the motor.

My other option was to fix it on with a polyeurathane used for bonding in automotive trade and using 1 or 2 bolts through the

QR plate, will this be enough to hold?

    Cheers

  4. I have just put twin 135ho's on my boat and I hope you have better luck than me. One o them is fine the other is a pain in the arse. Had a bad miss after first trip that went away back at shop with no probs on computer. Second trip no oil alarm at ramp went nowhere that day. Air bubble in one sensor. Ran ok on muffs for 1/2 hour toed to port stevens ran ok for 2 days but still missing a little at idle that seemed to get worse bad while flushing when you can hear it better shakes bad. Now have to toe from Gosford to Wollongong back to shop. If you read this huey any ideas. Should have come to you in the middle of the two places I fish Wollongong is home Gosford work. If not resolved soon will I never own another etec. 35k out of pocket and pissed off at this stage. Good luck mate.

Just traded a 60 etec with my 450 hornet as it fried the emm the week before christmas only after 160 hours. BRP came to the party and replaced it even though it's 2009 motor. The distributor in Orange handled it all. This is the main reason for sticking with the etec, good service close bye. I'm certain once you sort out your 135ho you wont regret your choice, just have to go through the short term pain.

That boat will absolutely fly with a 90HO.

I could be wrong but I think they are basically a de tuned 115. If you ever tow skiers it will come in handy.

Will be a fun boat to drive

As far as I understand it's the V4 115hp motor, with 115 performance at bottom and mid range and a top end 99hp (90hp) I'm lead to believe that the 3 cylinder 90 is performing at it's max.

Plan was for the girls to come out a couple of times a year on the biscuit, hence the ho. Just hope she's not too much weight on the rear end thats all.

  5. Hi All,

Just new to all this and want some helpful opinion.

Just traded my old boat which had some recent engine issues and bought a new Quintrex 481 Hornet and a etec 90ho.

Was not sure if I should have gone just the standard etec 90 or the 90ho?

I understand the diffrence in the two, but not sure if the power to weight ratio (extra 30+ kg) will make much difference in a boat this size.

Have I over powered the 481? and should I have gone for the standard 90hp. Decissions, decissions.

    Cheers

  6. Went to TCD 3 times over the last 2 weeks and not a hit. The last trip there were some fish feeding off the surface after rain.

I think it should start to fire up in a few months time as the weather cools.

  7. Hi all raiders,

Just joined fishraider last week and got back into fishing 18 months ago after many years absent. I have a 13 year old son who is mad keen and bought a 450 trophy hornet with a 60 etec. This has been great for fishing lakes and dams in central west NSW. I would like to head down to Sydney harbour and fish inside and around the heads some time soon but am concerned that our boat is not suitable for most conditions. Looking for expert help and opinions on this.

    Cheers. John.N
