  1. Definitely seen some guys fishing lower down at Magic Point while out on my yak...must use ropes to get down somehow.  Not many people fish Yellow Rock these days (for obvious reasons) and that's an easy passage down without requiring ropes.

Been heaps of kings out front there...but be careful lads and don't fish alone.

  2. Hi folks, just wondering anyone will be down Manyana/Bendalong way this coming school holidays?

I'll arrive on the 23rd of September and will start fishing Bendalong on Sunday morning. I can find ample squid but the intention is to head offshore for snapper.

If anyone is around the area during that time please let me know if you want to hook up for a session.

I'm also open to chase flatties and bream in the lakes.

I'll be on a kayak BTW, but open for land based sessions also though very much inexperienced in this area.

    Cheers,
    Vu.

  3. Found this in Botany Bay a few weeks back...asked around FB etc most people say it's a Wirrah but I've caught many Wirrahs before this is not a Wirrah in my opinion...didn't taste like an old boot that's for sure, according to the fortunate family I gave it to, possibly the best fish they've ever tasted.

Anyone else ever come across this species of Cod/Groper before? It was around 55-60cm, weighed approximately 3-4 kilos.

It's definitely not the protected Black Cod so please don't go there please folks...I emailed the Australian Museum also...no reply to date.

    Thanks guys.

  4. Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has managed to get out and fish the Eastern Suburbs ledges lately...the conditions haven't been favourable but tomorrow Sunday 30th June looks like the ideal time with swell and tides.

Just wondering if there's much around at the moment? Pelagics like Salmon, Bonito and Tailor etc. If all else fails perhaps I'll also bring my blackfish gear as a fallback.

    Thanks.

  5. General Zod...we had a fantastic session on the local rock ledge last sunday morning...bonito and mack tuna everywhere...they were taking everything, pillies under a float, metals, lures, even the $5 K-Mart outback lures...there was only 4 of us fishing in the platform...beautiful day out.

  6. those are Vietnamese recipes...salmon is awesome in the vietnamese style congee...plenty of meat to go round for everyone

General Zod, I was going to join you but the swell looked a bit iffy and given the recent death there I was spooked...

Catch up with you soon mate.

    Vu.

  7. gday Andrew, met you on the wharf that morning while waiting for my game fishing charter...pretty ordinary day out deep with nothing but skipjacks, hardly any challenge on the heavy gear they had on board...nice to meet you mate and well done on the nice kingie.

  8. caught a couta recently also off the north head rocks...read reports of possible ciguatera poisoning that could occur by eating couta but then they were eating them on extreme fishing with robson green so I got no idea....anyone tried it before or have any thoughts?

  9. Gday Raiders, I'm thinking about dusting the cobwebs off the rods and reels and doing some rockhopping tomorrow around the eastern suburbs...anyone braved the cold and choppy conditions recently and had any luck catching anything decent off the stones???

Heading out early targeting some surface fish like Tailor and Salmon spinning, then doing some luderick fishing as the sun comes up.

Great weeekend coming up for fishing.

    Cheers.

    VG.
