  1. I guess I'm referring to what you called the swivel bracket. I've only seen it referred to as the pivot tube. And its definitely beyond my level of capabilities, equipment or available time. Think I'll just have to get it down to the mech and see what they have to say.
  2. Yeah I've done that. Disconnected the steering arm, cable moves freely. Can't budge the motor by hand.
  3. Thanks all for your replies. Probably what I suspected. I fear the seized pivot tube is going to be a major headache. Has anyone had any past experience with pivot tube issues in the past?
  4. Hi Raiders, I have a 5m Stejcraft Stallion fibreglass boat which currently has an old 70HP four stroke motor on it. I've got a number of issues going on with the motor (overheating, stiff pivot tube, broken tilt/trim toggle on throttle, corrosion on bottom leg). I also have another aluminium runabout with a 40HP two stroke Evinrude motor on it. I bought the motor new about 8 yrs ago, it has done very little hours, and I know its full history. The aluminum boat is very old and the size and layout of it does not suit the family boating I want to do. With all the issues going on with the 70HP, I am considering whether to put the 40HP two stroke onto the fibreglass boat. The fibreglass boat is the boat I want to be use as it is better suited for the family boating I want to do at the moment. So, a few questions for all those out there with much more boating experience than myself. 1. How would a low-hours 40HP two stroke motor go on a 5m fibreglass boat (getting up on the plane, and top speed)? I don't do any offshore boating, all estuary based in the Hawkesbury. 2. How do I know the weight of my boat - Stejcraft Stallion `5m, not sure of the year.
  5. Nice. How to you fish with the microjigs? Is it similar to a metal vibe?
  6. Am finally getting out for a fish this weekend (23rd June), on the Hawkesbury. Would normally try to get out during May when they are schooling up pre-spawn run, but haven't been able to get out recently. Hoping I haven't missed the run for bream, where would you Raiders suggest trying to get some on the Hawkesbury at this time of year? Will be using lures and SPs on the top of the tide (morning). Thanks
  7. Depends whether we're talking whole or fillteted
  8. Thanks Zoran. I had already searched and had seen your old post and wondered how it had panned out.
  9. Thanks. She's a nice ride. Before I got it, I'd promised myself my next boat would have an electric motor. Got this one to be more family friendly, but missing an electric!
  10. I wouldn't look at doing anything myself. Knowing my handyman skills I'll stuff it up and it'll end up on the bottom of the Hawkesbury the first time I deploy it! I don't have the motor yet, am trying to confirm the feasibilty of mounting before I proceed. Photos of boat bow below.
  11. What are mounting options for an electric motor on a 5m fibreglass boat? Would love to see some pics of how others have done it on their fibreglass boats (I'm picturing it not as easy as on an aluminium boat).
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, aren't most ramps built and maintained by Councils, in which case kayakers would pay council rates and would therefore be contributing. Fishing licence fees contribute to fishing facilities like jetties and fish cleaning stations, not boat ramps.
  13. Nice day and good report. Good to hear there's some flatties up that creek.
  14. Great post Ian. A lot of those spots are already known spots, but your post gives good insight into why that might be. And more importantly, helps others think about what might be happening and how to find other spots. In a system like the Hawkesbury which is so big, finding the fish/spots seems to be my problem. I like to think i know how to fish. This post helps finding where to fish.
