Hi Shakey 55
Sorry for the late answer - but yes the ramp to use at Shoalhaven heads is located adjacent to the caravan park. If you follow the road down to the river then follow the river road in an easterly direction you will find it. Its a good ramp well protected and drops in to a deep channel that leads to the main river channel

Hi Welst - I dont know how many hours on your motor but I do know that the Etecs are programmed to use double the oil to fuel ratio for the first 5 hours that the engine runs at a minimum of 2000rpm. I believe this takes the average boaty around 12 hours of running to achieve.I use xd100 but the when I purchased the boat they say come back in 3 years for service. So I think they are set for normal oil from the factory and I'm using double the rate I need to. Does that sound right?
I have never run the oil container below half. I have heard they can run without oil at low revs for a few hours without damage. I certainly won't be testing that out.
And the motor would have been programmed to use the xd100 if thats what the dealer supplied from new. I believe that xd100 runs at a variable injection rate and the standard runs at a set rate. Thats how it was explained to me by my dealer . Im running an Etec 130 HO and I too am still in the double oil stage, hope this helps

They certainly are about we picked up a couple on whiting poppers using 3 pound braid and 6 pound leader - gets a bit tense at twenty dollars plus per popper
-
I fished the flats at the heads for whiting two weeks ago and got zip. The buggers are there and you can work your lure straight past them and they will follow but turn away . I fished the flats in St Georges Basin last week for whiting and got a similar result. Landed two in three hours and no great size to speak of . But same story , they were there and in numbers but not on the chew.
In saying this we have had a run of prawns in the last week or so and usually, by my account , the whiting come on after the first prawn run in decemberish. Even so they do seem unusually quiet for this time of year, whether the floods of three months ago have anything to do with it , possible

Bonnies on light gear = great fun

I hate it when a 80cm flathead takes my jewfish bait.
Not to mention those bloody pesky kingfish

Hi Farvos - weve been getting them on the surface below point perp light on poppers, early. Ive been using Williamson rooster popper

Another consideration is the newer gme style aerials are long ,non ground dependant whips where the whip can be unscrewed from the base and stored out of the sun. Just ten seconds work to reattach. Never had a problem with mine And I do go wide

Hi anthony
Check out the link below it doesn't go into grounded antenas but does discuss why a longer ungrounded whip may be an advantage when using VHF (line of sight)

hi Yarrone - what weight do the tray back conversions come in at ?

Woolamia ramp at husky was closed on Sunday. Sorry no further info just a "road closed ramp under repair barricade".
Not really related to the original post but for those with boats following this thread.
Thanks Sunray, good to know

The shimano 50 WLRS drag system is designed to run 37 kg or 24 kg . I have run 37 on a LRS and find that if you are planning to release some of your catch , it gets them to the boat a bit sooner and as such a bit kinder on the fish. The down side is you will lose about 200m of capacity.

Lower down on the add page it states you can reserve a unit for $3500 - as you say though, if it keeps you in a bigger boat longer it may be a sound investment.

Thats a coincidence Ian I have a Tescata and checked the tackle store yesterday for a new reel and settled on a 500 Saragossa

Hi Mcconnachie
If you are using Gulp then these have to be stored in a bath of fluid / sealed pack or they will dry out and be usless in less than a day. The other silicone type plastis can be stored in your tackle box for a long period of time. Although sqidgys claim to be scent infused and as such may require some aditional sfactor to rejuvenate their scent levels if thats your thing.
I think Steve is right in that the action of the plastic is 90% of the equation but I have had occasions where the fishing was quiet and on the introduction of scent there was an increase in hookup rate. Was it scent, change of tide, found a patch, hard to say.

Macman , you are correct wearing "LIFE PRESERVERS" wont stop people from making stupid desicisions but it will help them to servive the consequences of those stipid desicisions.
I also read above that adults should have freedom of choice and that kids should be made to wear a life jacket. I may be incorrect but in memory, and mine has to stretch a long way back now, most if not all of the fatalities / drownings attributed to rock fishing were indeed adults.
As adults we tend to make sure our kids are safe , someone is just trying to make sure we are safe.

You can also purchase bottles of the fluid by itself and use your own container or reload the original packs - if they dont leak that is.
I have used zip lock style lunch bags and they have proved to be leak resistant so far, you just need to remove as much air as possible before sealing them. I used the saller bags for each type of gulp and then placed the smaller bags into one larger bag for transport. Ah to be sure to be sure??
