  1. It's the least I can do. I'm off to Darwin next Friday, so hopefully you'll see a report in a few weeks of a big fish with your name on it!

Fabian, I'll also dedicate one for you! As it's stories like yours that reminds me to enjoy every moment!

    Hi Scratchie,

Thanks for your kind intention. I would like to say that afters years of chemo with a very sensitive skin, I discovered a simple treatment for skin allergies that I want to share and hopefully, can help some one with this condition.

Lets ask our self what is an allergy. It is likely from ancient time when we have to hunt for foods and in the process, we got bit by ticks, insect ECT which may cause harm to our body. In reaction to this, the brain send an itchy signal to the effected area so we can scratches these off. If we can trick the brain that this skin area is under danger then the brain will ignore itchy and try to repair the effected area. We can do this by apply heat to the effected areas, heat must be before burning point so heat will not burn the skin. If you have a mosquito bite next time just get a water bottle and fill with hot water hot enough so that you can just hold on the the bottle and then hold the bottle on top of the bite.

You will have a feeling that is almost as good as sex as it will relieved itch in 5 second. If you feel pain then move the bottle away. This can become very addictive if your skin have more than one effected area.

I hope you understand what I meant and spread this method to help people in needed.

    Cheers,

  2. I can relate to what your wife, yourself and all the loved ones around you are going through mate.I lost my father on the eve of my 21st birthday in 1995 due to cancer. He was 63 and left behind a wife and 4 children.I lost my eldest sister in 2005 due to a terminal brain Tumor. She left behind a Mother,3 brothers,a husband and 5 children of her own.In 2010 I was diagnosed with spinal cancer but have been cleared for now.

I think about my father missing my 21st birthday, not having him around for the kids birthdays, christmas's,gatherings etc on a daily basis. The same for my sister. But you know what I feel the most sadness for is my mother losing a husband,a daughter and almost her youngest child(Me).

I watched my fathers and sisters health decline over the years and I can honestly say I would sacrifice my own life to have been able to give them back there's knowing full well that there was nothing I or anyone could do to change the cards that they had been dealt.

Rest assured that as brave and macho us men think we are our wives are stronger and more resilient than we sometimes give them credit for.

I know that my Cancer can return and take my life some day and have accepted that from the beginning having told my loved ones that I want them to be happy after I'm gone and to remember me for who I was.

For now I'm going to keep on sharing my life with them all and being the best loving, caring human I can be.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family mate during these difficult times ahead.

    Hi Fab,

I went through life in the last few years thinking there are people have worst situation than me and that made me few better to go thru life until last year, I can no longer feel that there are worst situation. My wife now also have been diagnose with cancer. Unfortunately, she also had a bad heart which chemo is out of the question, she had a major stroke at the age of 28 so doctors from 3 hospital refused to operate on her. After read your post I now see there are some people almost worst then me. I am glad you still can enjoy life with your love ones. Our story is good enough to be made into a Hollywood movie.

I still have couple of small thing to do for my family so I am trying to hang on to finish them so I can go in peace. Your story made me feel a lot better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

  4. Fab, it just goes to show the strength of character you have. Your loss is tragic but it has moulded you to who you are now! I'm sure this post has made quiet a few people sit back and reflect on the important things in life! So thank you for sharing!

Xsite, I feel for you tremendously of your situation. Nothing I say or do will help you but I know your quest of a 15kg fish is beyond you. So my next big fish will be dedicated to you!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

    Thanks mate

  5. It was the 12th Oct 1992 on a dark, rainy night that a young 18yr old couples life would never be the same.

    The story starts like this.

This particular couple met and fell in love on the first day of high school,I guess it was love at first sight when this strapping young lad got up the courage to approach this beautiful young lass and engage her in conversation.

Josephine was her name and very quickly these two young people clicked and where glued at the hip.

As the years passed they shared their dreams and inspirations with each other and decided at the ripe old age of 18 that they would wed.

Fast fwd to the eve before that wedding day and this young lad had organised a great night out for his bride to be with a movie, dinner and dancing in that order before they made the 45min trip back home to rest up for the big day.

It was now around 11pm when they decided to head home Chatting to each other, smiling and laughing on their journey home.It was a miserable night, raining and the visibility was poor.

All was well during their journey for the first 20-30min when all of a sudden as this young couple drove through an intersection out of nowhere they were T-Boned by a motorist at a T intersection pushing them over the kerb and rolling down the embankment through some dense trees and shrubs when suddenly everything went black for the driver.

As the driver regained consciousness he knew he was in a car accident and was pinned upside down in a mangled mess with some severe injuries but his one and only Josephine was not beside him where she had been seconds before.

By this time the adrenaline was pumping and he knew he had to get out and fearing the worst he had to find Josephine. As he somehow managed to find the strength to push his way out of the wreckage he began looking around for her through the heavy rain, the dense scrub and the darkness calling out her name.

    "Josephine" he called,no answer.

After calling out her name several times he finally got a faint reply back and made his way to her in the direction of her voice carrying his injuries.

When he got to his beloved Josephine it was immediately apparent that she was in a really bad way with cuts and bruising to her face. The real shock came when he saw her stomach had been sliced open and her intestines where exposed trying everything he could to keep them clean and inside her stomach while yelling at the top of his lungs for help.

No sooner did he get to Josephine that she started gasping for breath and bleeding from the mouth that he constantly assured her she'll be ok and that he loved her while sitting with her in his arms.A few moments later Josephine gasped Te amo and passed away in his arms.

He wept like a little kid the whole time holding Josephine in his arms which felt like an eternity when he suddenly awoke to the sound of animals and it was now day break and he knew he had to get back up to the road to flag down a passing motorist to get help.

He made it back up to the road flagged down a motorist and all the emergency services were called to recover the wreckage and Josephine's body.

After a full 12week recovery for his injuries the driver was back home and resting while he and Josephine's family where still coming to terms with what happened.

I can tell you that after 24 years this young lad that loved Josephine losing her in such a tragic way in his own way grieves for her and her family each and every single day.

As a matter of fact after all this time he still has her wedding ring.

How do I Know all this?

Because Josephine was going to be my wife and was taken from me and to this day no one knows by who.

It makes you think how a second in time can change everything doesn't it?

Thanks for reading on this very sad day for me.

By the way Te Amo means I love you in Spanish as I was teaching her Spanish at the time and those were her last words to me.

    Fabian.

I am sorry to hear your story, tears is running down my checks,12-oct is my wife's birthday and she is going to hell at he moment due to my health, although i am still around but the tear I brought to her due to my sickness is unbearable for me too. I wish I could do more but unable to do anything, she is refusing to give up on me which. its shows that life is very fragile so enjoy time together with your family and do what ever you can while you can. It is a lot worst when you can see things will happen but cant do anything to change the event

  6. Dear Raiders,

Thank you for all your kind words and sympathy.

I can tell you that give up was never in my dictionary, I still believe that I am luckier than many other so I feel very comfortable and peace.

Doctor has prescribed me very heavy pain relieve which made me feel more energetic, less cough, almost no pain, easy to sleep but a little bit dazed.

If this keep up then I may be able to do another trip if wind and wave is small in Botany Bay.

I have been looking for alternative treatment but have not found credible one.

I definitely will be continue to read Raider and have input to wherever I can.

    Thanks again

  7. Hi raiders,

Have not post or get on raiders for a while due to stupid mistake and health reason

Some may still remember my posts

Now I cannot fulfill my last wish that is to catch a fish bigger than 15 kg. I have not fish for two months and now almost can't get out of bed, I wish you all a happy fishing life and don't take your health for grants as no one know what might happens tomorrow. I don't smoke or drink but contracted deadly cancer with no history in my family.

If I have offended any one then please accept my sincere apology.

Life can be short so look after your love ones and do what you can while you can

  8. Bad luck mate, in my experience it pays to drop the drag right off when landing so this doesn't happen. Good on you though for wanting to look after your catch, lost some gear but gained my respect ;)

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapata

Unfortunately, Mr king is not doing well towing a rod and reel, I did release drag but not enough that why the line burnt my finger (let go of the rod was reaction without my control). I felt more sorry for the king than my rod, I don't like catch and release as it hurt and may kill the catch, I only target one that me or family will eat or for bait. I have always tried to be gentle with sharks, rays ECT

    I hope king will survive

    Thanks for your comment

  9. Practice make perfect.

How I practice is when I am in the open water, find a floating debris( or drop a large float in to water) and try to hit it at different speed, angle in different direction, you soon will be very good without damaging your boat

    Hope that will help

  10. Hi Raiders,

Any have same problem with overhead rocket launcher same as me

The problem is if it is too low, some one might hit their head especially for taller person, if too high then it is hard to put rod in and take rod out, find some thing on boat to stand one is not ideal in rough sea. Also some time rods got in the way of casting.

  11. Hi

Launch boat at 8 am this morning, caught some yellow tails but could not go outside due to swell so stay in close, caught two rays and then move to bare island for squid and got 5 small one.

We then went back to wall without success and decided to drift from drum to middle of bay before go home,

Got one king 66cm near the drum so drift again and caught another one 70 cm,

Third drift and another king was on and when it got to surface, look either on size or slightly under so I decided not to use net for better release, as I went to catch its tail, it made a final massive run which the line burnt my finger and it let go of the rod, rod and reel went straight over, my best king set up, a penn 650 live liner, spool with 300 m of 30ld exeed orange braid and cant remember the rod. $350 set up gone. we drop the reef anchor and move around for 15 minutes but no luck

I hope some Raider can find these and make good use out of them or better return them to original owner.(wishful thinking, LOL)

Too upset to take any photo

  12. Hi Raiders,

Off to Botany bay again at 5 pm hoping for jew, tried to collect some squid ut only one large one, then tried for yellow tail p with two, wind was too big, Went to wall for protection and started to fish. All others boaties also went there so was crowded.

To cut story short, two live bait rods, two with pillie on gang and one small line for bream but without a touch . Pulled the pin at 10 pm. Did not see any one catching either. This was the third fruitless trip.I hope other have better luck

What the hell I am doing wrong??? any one know another productive spot in botany bay??

Still enjoy the night out, better than going to pub.

    Cheers Guys

  13. She's coming along very nice mate, nothing is more rewarding than Diy not to mention the coin you save in the process.

Keep at it and before you know it you'll be able to sit back admiring your handy work with a nice cold beer after a productive days fishing.

    Cheers.

    Only one problem

When you sit back and admire your work, you will come up with better and more ideas. It will never end( speaking from own experience)

    Cheers

  14. YEP a few times not just once!

another one I am guilty of.. New boat maiden voyage SO EXCITED towed boat from Campbeltown to Kyeemagh launched boat parked car only to find I had no boat keys. Boat back on trailer & home we go trip cancelled.

If only i get a dollar every-time i forgot something and yes including bungs

  15. HI,

A few months back, I was fishing for squid near bare island toward ocean size and got a hit, it slowly but heavily coming to the boat and I could not make of what it was, no shaking, no pull back like squid but occasionally slight twitch which confirm it wasn't weed. Feel like a large octopus then a flathead come up and my heart almost stop as I have never seen a flat head that big in photo, let alone flesh. One shake of it tail when it saw the boat and it is over, change rig to plastic for half hour but no luck.

There are some real croc to be catch

  16. We encounter same problem 4weeks ago at botany bay, the difference is we went home empty handed. our anchor did not hold and we was coming close to the rock so decided to go home, Our boat does not have full windscreen so you can imagine how wet we was

    worst fishing day ever.

  17. Hi guys, I have an unorthodox way for bait pump by mount this type of pump outside of boat, Cheap, convenient and a shit load of water will go in to tank when boat is planning. I also install a timer so pump will run for 45 second every five minutes or bypass timer if required, now we don't have to worry about keeping bait alive

PM me if you want photo

  19. The best bait tank I ever had ( and still) is to convert the outboard well in to a live bait tank, take up no room, easy clean and drain, easy to catch bait with your hand and a piece of wet rag to reduce spike from yakkas. Many people saw it at the ramp and always had positive comment on it
