  1. G'day everyone,

Just after a bit of winter fishing fun close to home.

I am just after a spot where I can catch a couple of carp one afternoon for a bit of fun.

If someone can drop me a pm if they don't want their spot public etc I'll be very much appreciative.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hey all,

I'm thinking about going camping/fishing down the south coast next week.

Can any raiders please give me some advice as to the best spots to camp (Vehicle accessible and preferably leave the tents up) and fish soft plastics in the region so lots of accessible waters on foot? Looking at spending 2 nights doing this.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. G'day guys,

Heading down to the lake tomorrow morning for a fish.

Just wanting some info in regards to where I should fish in the lake for Bream or Whiting where I could get some eaters from the shore and what bait you guys have been using.

    Cheers and thanks in advance,

    Keith.

  4. Hi Kjd, the 4HP and 5HP Mercury are the same, so basically no you can not do much to that engine to make it go better. The next one up being the 6HP is a twin cylinder powerhead, which is the same as the 8HP and you can make them go better, but not your 5HP.

You have the big brother in that family,

    Cheers,

    Huey.

    Bugger!!!

Thanks for that mate I was hoping I had the little brother clearly I do not lol...

I changed the spark plug and used premium fuel (95RON) and it seemed to run a bit better but yeah I was really hoping it was going to be a governed motor  Oh wells!

    Thanks again Huey!

  5. Is the Mariner 5hp 2 stroke 90's model restricted at the carby to be 5hp?

Is there any tricks to get a bit more power out of these outboards?

I just figured that they wouldn't have had different motors for the lower powered models and thought they might have restricted it to 5hp and an adjustment to the carby or something along those lines would free her up a bit?

Even at full speed the motor doesn't sound like its working hard . . .

    What are your thoughts guys?

  6. The new Bridge at Menangle was under water which I think may be the first time ever.

A mate who has lived in Menangle all his life said he saw the old wooden bridge go under but that was the first time he ever saw the new concrete bridge (which is much higher) go under water!!

  7. Gday fella's

Me and my mate are thinking of buying a new outboard for our 11ft boat in 6 or so months. We are thinking about a Yamaha 15hp!

We also want to do it up a bit we are thinking about ripping out the rear two bench seats and having it just floored and also thinking about a spray job atleast inside if not outside.

How much would it cost to get our boat sprayed roughly?

    And

Where could we get someone to make up the floor and how much would it be to put a floor in it with marine carpet?

  8. Hi mate ,what is the area you are relocating too as that will make a difference to the bite ,ie water temps.

    Cheers Stewy

G'day mate I'm not really changing regions It will be around the Picton area!

  9. I have just realised that I am moving within 10 minutes drive away from a group of small lakes that have been stocked with 2500 bass in 01/02.. Would they still be on the bite in winter and if so whats the best method to catch them on? Hard bodies? Soft Plastics? Bait???

How big would a 5yo bass be? I have only caught about 4 in my life and I find it hard to not go out after them when they are so close to my new home...

I have a canoe and a tinny (Though these lakes don't require a tinny!)

    Thanks in Advanced!

  10. Yeah no worries, i just looking out for your safety, some people do silly things, i dont know personally any places down there, but im sure Ben(gongfisho) will be able to help. All the best.

    K.

Nah mate thanks a heap! I really appreciate it!!

Whats the furthest South the Jewies get to?

  11. You;d be better of fishing the rocks, i would not like to get caught in any rough seas or swell or current out the front of the headlands with ony a 5hp. You can catch big fish off the rocks or beaches. Just my thought, looking out for safety before fish!

What I meant mate was are there any safe places I can go in my boat to target some bigger species??

  12. G'day everyone,

Am looking to target some larger fish on the Southcoast...

    I have a 11ft Flat bottom tinny with 5hp..

What are the bigger sorts of fish me and my mate can target with out boat from the gong to Kiama?

    Cheers!

  13. By far, these are the best IMO apart from the overpriced Hella ones.

These ones are fully sealed where as the others are not. Silly, I know, but true.

I've had them on my boat for almost 12months now & they are fantastic AND they come with a 5 year warranty.

    post-194-1177721085_thumb.jpg

How much and where did you get them from mate?

  14. Does anyone know where I can get a hold of some or if they even exist?

I hate having to bugger around with the tail lights every time we launch. So I'm hoping there are some LED lights that can be submerged so we don't have to take them off at all!

How much would I be looking at?

    Cheers!

  15. G'day Bob,

I agree that the Shooters party should stay separate from TFP. I never use to think this but I think if this would happen there would be much infighting and lead to the destruction of both parties leaving every hunter, fisho and 4wdriver screwed!

I am overjoyed by the fact that Roy got in over the other smaller parties as I believe you guys are far more set up to achieve goals then any of the other "single issue" parties.

Congratulations to you, Roy and the shooters party!

  16. Thats all fine and its o0o0o and ahh with the Greens holding 4 seats but they have less power now then they did before the election!!!

Not only saying that but TSP doubled or better the nearest single issue/minority party vote (inc the fishing party) to gain another seat in the legislative council as well as the Christian Democrats (both of whom TSP and CD have a hatred for the Greens and Vote against them at most times.)

Here is an article that says it better then I can but the Greens DO NOT hold the balance of power in the upper house and that is a good thing. The Greens even though they have 4 seats are far weaker due to the independents that they use to bully not being re-elected.

    Greens Suffer Power Surge.

MATHS has never been a strong point for the NSW Greens.

Even with the use of a solar-powered basic calculator, they haven't yet worked out that the election has not furnished them with more power.

In fact, it has delivered them less. Far less.

Talking about the NSW Upper House can induce immediate sedation. So bear with this, there is a point.

Final counting in the Legislative Council has revealed that Labor will end up with 19 MPs (up one from 2003), the Coalition 15 (up two), the Greens four (up one), Christian Democrats two and the Shooters Party two (up one).

Gone are five micro-parties or independents.

In summary I think we are better off with the Legislative Council we have now then the one we had before the election in regards to outdoor recreation such as hunting, shooting and fishing thanks to the Christian Democrats and TSP.

  17. G'day everyone,

Bought a boat on the weekend came with a 5hp Mariner 2 stroke engine and was wondering how much should I expect to pay to get a service on the outboard?

I would just like to get a service on it to put my mind at ease and know I can trust it when in the middle of a lake/river.

    Cheers,

    Keith.
