The knot i use to tie braided line to swivel is the Palomar Knot, it provides good strength. Or you can try the triple Palomar knot which gives more strength

What is the legal size for Leather Jackets?
and also is there any certain way to handle them?
thanks
Josh
there is no legal size for leather jackets. I really only keep the ones over 20cm cos theres not much meat on the smaller ones as they have such big heads.
When holding them, stay clear of the horn on its head and try to hold it by the belly and keeps your fingers away from their sharp teeth.

I'll be working this weekend

I found the best rig that works for me is a paternoster rig with size 10 or 12 long shank hooks. They like hanging around structures and like swordfisherman said strike when you feel a little pull. I usually fish for leatherjackets at Greenwhich pt in north sydney on the wharf there.
They are very good eating and they have big bones but they will need to be skinned before you cook them.

my one is a symetre 1500 with 6lb fireline and stella spin 66 rod. Great for flatties and bream

Hey guys,
i finally got the chance to test out my new yozuri jig this weekend. Second cast i landed my first squid measuring about 17cm in the head. I ended up getting about 10 in total over the next couple of hours. These jigs work great

I've caught a lot of these up on the central coast. Someone told me they are called butterfish.
They are good eating but not much meat on them.

I want to have a go at catching squid, Is there any jig that works better than the other? whats the difference between one that costs $5 or $20? and what weight is best suited for fishing off a wharf in bays
