  1. Mate I have the exact same issue with you and my parts been rusted for 5 years. When I was going to go and get it replaced I was told you would do more damage to the engine replacing this part. Its a cast iron part so I was told it would be better to brush off all the rust and use some of the anti rust solution and then paint it and it will be fine.

In the process of doing it at the moment

  2. hey guys,

After being off the water all summer finally got to fish the hacking sunday morning. Hit the water early off lilli pilli and was able to hit a solid school of bream hanging in the shadows near the pontoons. Landed 3 of them, all above 40cm with the largest at 44.5cm. All fish caught on Pillies.

It was pretty hard work trying to drag the fish away from the pontoons as the fish would dart for cover once hooked. lost 2 others at the structure. Once the sun hit the water the fish were gone. landed a 65cm flattie also.

All in all a good days fishing.

  3. My recommendation is to start early. Be fishing at 6:30. The fish in the hacking seem to drop off once it gets too bright.

If you are fishing later in the day fish the shadows - moored boats, pontoons etc. The fish tend to hang there in the brightness of the day.

  4. mate i fish in the hacking and where i fish the tide doesnt flow to fast so if i am lazy i just mix up a couple of bags of breadcrumbs with so tuna oil and use that. I put a fair bit of water so it starts off pretty runny, though it will dry up over the course of the fishing trip. I put a small scoop out every time i cast. I like using tuna oil becuase i am using pillies typically for bait and so the fish will be attracted to the tuna oil and will be looking for some pillies etc to eat. Works well with bream. While i am fishing though i do put out the occasional bits of pillies out also, though i make sure i cut these into small pieces.

  5. mate at the flats you would always get kingies at this time of the year in your berley trail. I find that if you berley up with cube pilchards and then send an unweighted pilly out as well you can fool them into taking the bait. They are always unsized kingies though.
