100% only allowed 1 over 70cm . It is very rare for us to keep 1 over 65 cm. We would have released 5 over 80 in the last year plus plenty in the 65 - 80 cm range. 90 % of our flathead are caught in less than a metre of water.
He is very proud of his capture and that he caught it all on his own except for me netting it.
Bruce
hope he catches many more mate.

Great fish young fella congrats. Think your only allowed 1 over 70?

Evening all, hope you all had a good weekend.
So we are heading up for a 2 week fish (supposed to be Tully QLD, Thanks Anastasia for your border closure) and 2nd option is around Coffs Harbour. Have not fished there before so doing the good old research and trying to get some reasonably close to shore snapper marks of the internet. Would anyone be willing to share a few such as Bullocky Shoals etc?. We badly need a Coffs version of scratchie lol. Thanks heaps.

My handheld works fine at the wave rider & the FAds off Crowdy Drought Breaker. And I have a charging port on the boat if I need it.
awesome mate, so they come with a 12 volt male cigarette socket or usb?

thanks everyone, some good advice and information. Appreciate it

Evening all and hope you had a cracker weekend.
So I have a 27MHZ marine radio but looking at adding a VHF for extra safety etc. I have a 5m freedom sport Quintrex and don't go any further out then FADS.Tossing up whether to just get a handheld as opposed to fixed?.
Fixed have obviously longer range but more expensive then handheld but handheld has the advantage with a water proof model in worse case scenario of boat sinking where you can still use the radio.
Just wondering if anyone has the hand helds and used them back to base at Crowdy and port Stephens FADS?

Cheers mate. I’m glad you enjoyed it and I hope it helped in some way. To answer your question, yes I do with zman’s and similar sp’s. But not on the gulp as the scent is impregnated throughout the plastic! 👍
thanks mate.

That was the best 1/2 hour of audio I have ever listened to.
Well done Scratchie, would love to meet you one day.
mate do you use scents on your SP's?
cheers

Nice work. Do you drift or anchor up?
-
Hi Scratchie. Unlucky mate. Are you still running the 20/20 Lb braid/leader from your pinned article?
-
Nice mate. Btw my boats named drought breaker and fish Lake Macquarie regularly 👍

I grew up in png. Check out madang. The resorts there usually have fishing guides varying from panga style boats to luxury flybridge game boats.
Thanks mate. We will be at hidden valley near Wau. Is there any good fishing up there? Is Lae good fishing? Cheers

Gday raiders. heading to PNG for 6 months work up near Wau in the high country. Just wondering if anyone could give some advise on fishing up there, guides, charters, fishing of the banks or jetties etc?. Hopefully somewhere close to our location. Would love to chase black bass and also some blue water fishing. Cheers

Rick do you find the southerlies put the squid of at night? We squid in Lake Macquarie at night and do ok but no good when blowing from south.

I thought I was going to have a great day. Caught a dozen yakkas in no time...I have struggled to get them on the last few trips so thought it was a good omen. Got no action at the kingfish pens and didn’t see any of the other boats getting anything. Tried trolling the V and then from the V to Gunsight. A couple of game boats at the V but they didn’t seem to be getting any action either. I wanted to have a flathead drift but it was already getting sloppy and so trolling was more comfortable. Then went to my standby, trolling for bonnies at Boondelbah Is and for the first time ever, I think, I couldn’t catch a Bonnie. Trolled twice around the island and 4 passes up the western side. I always get them there! Drove back into Port in driving rain that stung the eyes. Oh well, that’s fishing!
mate we fished around cages on saturday the 3rd and got our bag limit of kings in 15 minutes. Was just like those clips Scratchie put up with fish everywhere. 2 guys, 10 fish, caught and released another dozen for fun. We just dropped a hook in and immediate hook ups with other kings swarming the hooked one. Heaps of boats in area and they were all smashing it. There was a big commercial boat there with guys fishing with long poles, they must have caught hundreds. Shame they dont seem to have to abide by any bag limits.

fished newcastle harbour on full moon from 8pm to 1 am with a high tide at 10.30pm. Not a touch with livies and squid I caught that day. Fished good structure with heaps of tailor showing up so surprised we didn't get a hit. Maybe the full moon theory of poor jew fishing could be correct.

I did post a warning of extended exclusion zone!
The carpark was red hot yesterday! Heard of even one boat landing 10. There ON!!!!
All good mate. Didn’t see your report but appreciate you notifying. Radio stations yesterday said ban was lifting and only found out late last night and we were committed to going. Spoke to a crew this am at boat ramp who got into marlin around car park.

Not on fire today. Dpi has extended the ban on Huon kings until 28 feb. Found out late last night to our displeasure. No kings around cage cardinal markets. Trolled livies, used fresh squid, metals, chook pellets, nothing. Heaps of boats around markers, saw zero fish caught. Headed to gibber for 1 trag and 1 snapper. The only surface activity we saw were dolphins. Should have just fished Lake Macquarie. Many boats were heading wide and to the car park for marlin

squid has slowed down big time. Got a few snapper in lake that were just over 30 on weekend but very quiet. out at midnight till 7 am trying for a jew but no luck

It's this type of "ASSHOLES" that give Boaters a bad name ....I've had similar experiences with these NUMNUTS on the water . What really gets under my skin is when they can actually see you have little ones on board & they choose to come right up to an anchored boat at WOT ...There have been times that i feel like pulling up anchor & running them down To make Burley out of them, But with little ones on board I JUST gotta take a deep breath & give them the 1 finger salute instead....
Agree completely mate.
If he was heading in I would have up anchored and met him at the boat ramp. Unfortunately with him heading out my little 90HP yamaha would not have kept up with his twin God knows how big

Nice work Jeff. Just interested in how many packets of plastics you take out? Do you have multiple packets of same type in the boat or many different varieties? Cheers mate
