How'd you go at these spots? I've just got myself a kayak and I'm looking for spots around the lake to try, Would it be ok to take in the channel?

Hey guys,
I'm sure this has been asked a few times before but I can't find anything. I just got my boat license today! Woo! And I'm looking at cheap boats to go out fishing on. It would need to hold 4 people max. Highly likely just to have 2 at a time and I want something that can go in to Swansea channel too. I'm probably looking at $5000. $7500 max if $5000 isn't enough. Any help on things to consider or what to look for would be awesome!

What is the best conditions for fishing off a breakwall? Big but safe swell? Rising tide? Dusk/dawn?

Thanks guys! My only other question is, will it be clear once I find them? I find myself looking at pieces of shell flipping around thinking its a head.

Does anyone know a good beach around Swansea to go beach worming. I've tried using a stinky bag of pillies and had zero luck. I've read up on here and I have a feeling it was too steep and rough. Any advice would be welcome.

I tried both sizes. I saw people catch salmon off both sides. It was late afternoon and the tide was coming in and the place was packed. I saw quite a few people catching them.

Thanks Scratchie!!! Do you catch much else with pillies there? I saw a few people with sandy flatheads too. Also when you cast if it is unweighted do you just leave it sitting out there? or reel it in? Excuse my ignorance but 2/0 means a size 2 hook? and you'd have like 3 in the chain?

Thanks, I think most people were using little pilchards. I saw some pyramid weights being used and people catching with all different size rods. Would fresh pilchards be best or can you use frozen stuff?

This is my first post. I was looking to get some advice on how to fish for salmon off the breakwall at Swansea. I've got reels in sizes 1000,2000 and 5000. And I've got rods in 6'6, 7'0 and 12' surf. I went fishing there today and had no luck but heaps of people were catching them. Would love some advice on set up, bait, time of day, ride, etc.
