I looked at spending $300+ on a good 6lbs reel. Ended up getting the Ecooda Kyzer:

    http://ecooda.com.au/reels/kyzer/

Only cost $120 but the specs and feel were better than the other more expensive reels I handled. I can't get my head around the drag system, it's unlike anything I've seen before but boy it's smooth and strong! 10kg on my 2500 reel, much more than I'll need.

best of luck with the purchase there are a lot of good reels out there almost too much choice.

thanks FHL well I was going to get a good daiwa reel :-D but today a well known shop sent me a sms telling me about their 25%

off all rods :super: so I figured 2 Pflueger Trion 2-4kg rods and a stradic 2500FK was a good buy i saved

$130 with the 25% and a price match from from another shop on the reel :a_goodjob:

new stradic on one and old on the other now I have replaced all my 2pc rods with one piece  Christmas

finally got here for me .

so then my cheeky son walks in when he gets home and says typical houso ya got another stradic

this is what happens when you spoil'em .

  3. well after I went in the one of the local takle stores and having a look at the airdX I have

been kicking around the idea of having 1 REEL good bream bashing reel and have been

eyeing off the 16 Certate in a 2506 and it's in the $450 budget .

so is there anything else I should be looking at .

     cheers TAC

  4. their all just about warn out I have been using them on a weekly basis for 8-9 years

or do you mean the new Stradic FK if so it is a pos well the 5000 I bought is , only took

me a couple a months to save up enough for a bio master 5000 SWPG and it leaves

    the stradic for dead .

EDIT ..... haha I just realized yep the one in my avatar hmmmm I will have to change that .

  5. I'm thinking of having a change and going from shimano to daiwa and

am liking these Daiwa Aird X as they look a good reel for the money so

if you have one how long have you had it and what do you think about

    it .

will be replacing my stradic fi x 5

Alan Hawk does a review on both the Saragossa and the Spinfisher V. He seems to prefer the saragossa.

this is because the penn has a weak rotor among other things like it isn't as water proof as they say

You may not have lost a hooked fish but how many would have passed up your lure because of the extra appendage? ?

If you are going to use the snaps choose the ones without the swivel. The swivel bastardises the lure natural action, the snap behaves more like a loop knot.

when you catch more than 40-50 in a session not many i would imagine

i am not talking about finesse fishing just tossing at pelagics + salmon

    tailor and the like .

if you are worried about a swivel putting a fish off you would not be using

halco twisty metal lures or anything like them you would be using a better

quality more life like imitation .

  8. HONDA has better hole shot and i'm not afraid to admit i'm very biased towards HONDA

    in the last 2 years i have been in a 6m bsb with a 250hp a 18' cat with twin 90 a 24' cat with

twin 150 and my little tinny with a 40hp all HONDA'S and all i can say is this mob have it sorted

just lift the cowling and have a look at the wiring harness's and you will see what i mean .

  9. I've landed jews to 23 kg and numerous sharks up over 50kg from the beach on what I consider light gear. I opt for thinner line giving me more capacity rather than heavy line from the shore, besides you would be very hard pushed to put any more drag than 5 kg through a beach or rock fishing rod ( try it ) maybe don't as there aren't many beach rods that could do it without breaking.

Most of my beach gear has 20 lb braid but you also need to be aware many braids break double the rating, I use drag settings around 3kg ( two 3 lt juice bottles full ).

    Jon

if their full of water thats 6kg 1lt of water = 1kg
