  1. rip bridge. . .

the exact spot im only 90 percent bout but i think its round the eddy which forms on the st huberts side of the bridge near the pylon. . . will double check and get the exact spot for you over next couple of days if you want it. . .

  2. i've heard of good bream in the brisbane water area. . . my grandad's good mate has

been getting them around the rip bridge on the wagstaffe side in the little bay to left

hand side. this was about 2 weeks ago though. they were taken on baits not plastic.

they have gone to around the kilo.

    heaps of yakka's also

it was a good weekend all up. except the storm saturday night.

  4. g'day all, went down to apple tree bay couple of days ago for a fish

with a mate. as we were down there an old bloke came over and told

us of a top little spot land based which was quite popular but productive.

so we went down the track and started fishing there. we were there

for a few hours until about midday, we got a few jacket, a few whiting and

a couple of nice flounder. all legal, all returned. at midday though a large

goanna came down looking for our bait so we thought we'd head back to

the park and have some lunch restock on gear and drinks and head back out.

so when we got back out there the bloke who went out on the boat told us to

use pillies so he threw the leftover bait he had from he's session and we used it.

later in the arvo though with half a pillie out my little baitcaster went off. i was

hoping for a nice little bream or even a small soapie jew if it was around on the rod.

but this fish was big had a first run which took about 40 metres of line then two more

which took about 10 metres each again. fought him for about 10 minutes the fish

then bit me off just above the hook.which makes me think it was a shark as

opposed to a big jew. unfortunate but thats fishing.

all in all a great day on the water few nice fish and alot of fun on something big.

  5. i have a sahara 1500 spooled with 6 lb fireline haven't had a problem with it yet

the line goes on fine and casts fine everytime. might just be a fault in the particular

    reel you purchased.

  6. yeah no traps in brisbane waters.

everyone is saying that the crabs are only just coming out and all

but i've actually caught them consistently in brisbane waters now

for about 2 years summer and winter. i dont know if it was just the

spot whihc holds them but they have been there.

  9. Hi Mark,

Ray and I (don't be scared by his photo, he really is friendly) usually fish out of my boat which is a 480 Quintrex Coastrunner about six months old with a 90 Merc on the back as well. Bloody stoked with the boat and touch wood it has been going like a champion. I have been fishing the Brisbane Waters for about 35 years now and it seems techinques which I used as a kid, just aren't relevant as much anymore. We have much more luck these days using plastics. The trick is finding the fish.

Good luck out there and we will keep any eye out for you.

    Regards, Hutcho

g'day hutcho i usually fish brisbane waters in a 4.7 mtr cruise craft with a 90 merc also.

i will definately keep an eye for ya's. i actually havent yet tried with plastics consistently

in brisbane waters i still fish with a bait on the end of the 3 - 4 foot trace and smallish

ball sinker. but neway good luck with the fishing and keep us all posted.

    regards mark
