  1. Took the old man up fishing last night on Blowering Dam, He has never really done any real lure fishing especially at night with no to little moon. It was good to teach him the "new age style" of fishing where you don't have to kill everything you catch!

These wern't his first yellowbelly's but were definately the largest he has caught with the first fish a respectable 575mm followed up 15 mins later by a 595mm and one very chuffed lippy old pro fisho!

They were trolled up on the wall at around 10.30pm on no: 1 Stumper jumpers with a black back and orange belly in a carp pattern.

  2. Yeh mate I feel for ya these can be bloody hard dams to fish, but that whats keeps me coming back. Starting to have more and more success. The big difference I have found nowadays is to ask questions (great story in the Nov/Dec Freshwater Fishing Mag... It's me!), most fisho's are pretty good folk and will give you good advice. I like to find out what lure type and colour has been successful and depth/location etc.

Im not much of a bait fisherman, but I have seen guys pull in freshwater eels outta Burrinjuck over 6ft. I generally only fish the main basin and Yass arm.

  3. top fish mate

do they go hard , pull line ?

Yeh they get a real big head thump going, trying to get that bloody sharp thing outta their gob. Big adrenalin rush!

    Thanks Arn09,

I will be chasing a PB on lure. Have plenty of black and purple lures so hopefully things will go to plan.

    Cheers

Yeah no probs I hope to crack a 100cm fish this season, I was using a 90mm hammer head if thats any help, my PB so far is 87cm

  4. Great Work,

I am heading to Blowering next week for a couple of days. Fingers crossed that i can post a similar report on my return.

Out of interest were you trolling or using bait?

    Cheers

On the troll, big black lures.

    are the edible?

    freshwater fish i assume?

    nice catch lol, looks funky

Yeah they are quite nice actually, but being on the endangered list I just like to catch and release them, plus they fight like freight trains!
