hello fellow fishraiders, heading to hat head in 2 weeks and wondering if anyone has been recently and how did they go? i'm familiar with the place but i've only ever been there late december early jan so would be good to know how it's biting at this time and what the pelagics are taking. thanks guys and have a good weekend!

Also is it worth drone fishing?

  3. Hi guys, Im going down the coast to Narooma mid December. most of my fishing will be off the rocks and some in the kayak. I’ve looked at reports and online but I don’t seem to see much information on fishing for reds and kings off the stones. I was just wondering if I could get more insight on if they do get them from the stones and is the water temp usually warm enough by then for kings etc. thanks 😊

  4. Sure is exciting times 😁 I thInk for now while I don’t have a live well I’ll slot them in the shaft holes ontop so I don’t go through the extra work for now. I’ll post up some pictures soon of my rig once I’ve set it all up! Thanks everyone!

  5. Thanks a lot mate! I’m sure I’ll never go back to a paddle kayak after this haha. My cart is actually abit different but not sure if it works the same way. I’ve seen alot of people put their kayak sideways on the bank then jump in and pretty much wiggle them self out and start paddling then attaching the mirage in. Once I get it I’ll experiment what best suits me as I’m also only 5’6 so I don’t think I’d make it sink at the bank 😂

here is my cart I’ll be using

  6. Hi guys! I’ve just bought myself a brand new hobie outback and it’s due to be picked up next Friday which I’m so keen about! I’ve been watching a whole bunch of videos to get an early start on launching and being on the water but the only thing I’m not so sure about is where everyone keeps their hobie cart. I’m yet to see anyone take in on board with them and slot it in them holes but taking it back to the car would be such a nuisance leaving the kayak unattended. Would love to hear about any ideas on keeping it on board without taking much space, thanks fishraiders!

  7. Thank you for all the replies guys. I managed to catch my first king this season in the harbour Which went 65. With all the rain we’ve had it’s likely that has to do with it.. I’ll be noting down some intel for further seasons to come

  8. Hello everyone!

my name is Ali and I’ve been around for w couple of years or so searching and putting the odd comment/ posts so I think it’s time I introduce myself and come out of my bubble! I’m 23 years old and fishing to me is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I’ve been addicted since I was 6 years old after I put everyone on show at the entrance when the whiting was on 😅I’m a keen rock fisho willing to do whatever it takes to forfill my LBG dreams. I hope to be more active on this site and always down to help others with whatever they need. Thanks everyone and happy new year!

  9. Sucks you had to go through that mate. Fishing a wharf or something small would be understandable but when they’ve got a lake and so much room to fish but decide to fish right next to you because one of them caught fish in that spot 😂 just gotta be the better person and move on I guess

  10. Hey guys, it’s that time of the year where the kings start to fire up and come in closer. I’ve probably been out spinning for kings 8 times within the past month with not even a single hit. I mainly fish the northern beaches but I did a little trip up north to pink caves yesterday. Not a single hit for 5 hours and I was there from 6am. I went past Avoca on the way back with no luck again. Usually I’m okay with no fish as I just love being on the water but I’m just really confused on why it’s been this dead lately? Could I just be very unlucky or it’s got something to do with the weather? Would appreciate any help thanks!

  11. Hey guys, heading down to Merimbula next week and going to be fishing areas from eden to tahtra. It’s my first time down south and I plan on targeting snappers, squid and kings with spin gear off the rocks. I’ve heard Merimbula wharf is a good start but I’d rather miss the crowds and hit the ledges as it could be a nuisance sometimes. So I was wondering if anyone could give me a pointer or 2 on which areas to give a go and try for some success. I love finding new spots myself and scouting areas trying to find sea beds and good reefs but with such little time I’m just trying to make the most of it.. thanks for all the help!

  12. Hey guys! I recently picked up the new 2019 daiwa spartan S100-4/6 and now I’m in need of a reel to suit so I can complete my kingfish outfit.. I was suggested to match the rod with a saltiga or saltist but I was wondering if there were any cheaper reelsI could go with which would have similar Specs?

    thanks fishos and tight lines!

  13. Hey guys! Summers coming up and I really want to get amongst the kings and hopefully catch my first off the rocks!
ive been having a look online but can’t decide which rod to go with and what size.. I don’t care how much I pay, just as long as it’s worth it!
    Thanks guys!
    Ali.

  14. Hey guys, I’ve been fishing off the rocks lately and there’s been times where I would hook onto a fish that’s 4kg+ But can’t lift him out for the water and land him. I’ve seen people land a fish up on the rocks with a wave but as much as I’ve tried, I just couldn’t land it. I would really appreciate it if I could get some tips or a demonstration clip.

    thanks, Ali

  15. Hey guys! Went fishing yesterday and unfortunately I received a wind knot in my braided line. So I let out my line, cut and repaired the knot with a double uni knot but as I was re spooling my line  I managed to make another knot..

so my question is, is it okay to have a few double uni knots within my reel or would I be better off changing my whole line?

    appreicat the help!

  16. Hey guys just after some advice. What speed do you guys usually tow your boats at on the highway? I’ve got a 4.5m alum tinny and I’ve heard all sorts of opinions to go 80.90.100 while towing. All advice will be appreciated!

    thanks, Ali

  17. Hi guys, heading to port Stephens in a few weeks and I’m really keen to go on a charter while I’m there. What charters would you’s recommend me if I wanted to target kingfish and some good size snappers?

    Cheers!

  18. Hi guys, I’ve just bought a bilge pump and water pickup for my live bait tank and need to install them at the back of the boat and the best place for me to install them is next to the transducer. Just wondering if these would affect the transducer readings in any way.

    thanks, Ali

  19. hi guys, heading down to nelsons bay soon and was wondering which boat ramp you guys would recommend to dock off if i'm going to go past the headlands? i searched up little beach boat ramp but it seems like everyone gets bogged there. thanks guys!!

For live bait, turn south straight around from Tomaree Head, there’s a big crack in the cliff. It’s called Mrs Murphy’s. Sound around near there. You’ll get yakkas and slimies.

    Cheers mate !
