  1. Just a quick report for yesterday.

With a gentleman"s start of 9.30 we set off out of botany headed for the southern canyons.

Was a little bumpy but the new boat handled the conditions just nicely.

With 3 first timers on board it wasnt long before they were hanging over the side.

So we decided to start to head back in once we got over the shelf.

Good thing we did because we picked up a nice Bull dolly around 15-18kg.

All in all not a bad days fishing.

Ill post pics and vids soon.

  2. I think this ramp is pathetic for a major ramp right in the middle of sydney...

What a waste of time and another great piece of work by our labour goverment..

I recently returned from west oz and i was lucky enough to see without a doubt the best ramp in australia..

This ramp had 6 dedicated launch and retrive lanes.

With the retrive side seperated by guard rails from the launch so no dumbs dumbs could possibly stuff it up.

ill try and locate some photos and layout pics, truly amazing.

  3. hi all

Finally got to take the new boat out on saturday. And it lived up to my expectations and lots more.

After a late start we gathered some bait and headed wide and made a stop at the peak which looked more like a carpark so we continued wide heading for browns.

Wasnt alot of action on the way out but we managed to pick a nice dolly just over the shelf hiding under a small branch.

Things were looking good but that was to be our only luck all day.

turned for home just as the sun was going down.

I must say i am amazed at the amount of very small boats inside botany after dark with no lights at all.

Its only a matter of time..... :ranting2:

    How did everybody else go?

  4. Hi, what in particular did you want to know. Yes the bigger Merc 4-Strokes are supercahrged and by doing this Merc have made a 4-Stroke outboard that perform quite well with good low down torque, but they are a complicated bit of machinery and dear. The I-4 are good outboards, but if the boat and wallet can handle the I-6 they with the floating transom brackets are nice engines.

Post what interests you and I am sure you get opinions on Mercs,

    Cheers,

    Huey.

Hi huey im looking at twin 150hp ver mercury motors.

I dont know a lot about outboards, and ive had so many problems with my yamaha 2 strokes. Which still dont run right. 4 out of 4 of the last fishing trips have ended at the ramp.

I was just wondering how they stack up against honda, or the new yamaha 4strokes..

and if anybody owns one of them and there thoughts..

    Cheers grimo
