ok nice. good to know that ! thx I`d love to ask you an additional question about this rod. Is this rod fine for using soft baits with jigheads or dropshot ? I`m asking because today hit my head an idea that mb other models of shoregun for twitching would be better for these methods I` ve just mentioned above... and which reel are you using with SFSGS-993SS ? Do you enjoy this rod? No more questions from me ! ;P
of course this rod is amazing for soft baits! When im not shore jigging im often throwing big 6-8inch Soft baits with jigheads targeting jewfish in the rivers/ beaches and off the break wall. It handles amazingly! lots of power and great action for the soft baits. I am using a Saltiga BJ 4000SH with pe3 and its a perfect combo

Hi kAs-09, i have actually used both rods and im currently using the Palms Shoregun SFSGS-993SS, There is a difference of weight between both rods, the dry carbon on the shoregun definitely feels much better in the hand and also the action on the shoregun is much softer and smoother compared to the majorcraft which is why i guess the shoregun is 80 euros more expensive.

woah great catch! just wondering what kind of lures were you guys fishing and depth of water? new to snapper fishing and been trying my luck also
-
dam nice catch! what waters were you jigging?

I've been shore jigging for a while now with a group of my friends (8 of us), i've had success with both shore jigging and the good old halco twisty, the main difference i guess is that shore jigging works every single column of water whereas twisty's are usually just retrieved quickly under the surface. We had a massive 5 day fishing trip down at jervis bay, 4am-5pm everyday purely on lures, 2 of my mates didn't have any slow jigs but had the normal spinning metals. Throughout the trip is was obvious the slow jig were getting more hits as we usually let it hit the bottom jig and repeat, caught a good amount of snapper, kingfish and bonito whereas my mates with the metals were catching a few bonito here and there until they decided to switch over to shore jigging style/ lures! hope this helps

very nice haul of snapper! me and my dad have been down to bellambi atleast 5 trips now and have only managed to catch a single snapper ... proving to be extremely hard finding where snapper congregate
-
I generally use 50-70lb leader with a running ball sinker, and a 6/0 suicide or octopus and a whole red or black crab from the rock pools
-
I just spend the past 3 nights fishing the beach 6pm-3am, this is what i usually wear, comfy longsleeve shirt, windproof jacket, windproof track pants, long socks to put over my trackies and some gumboots that are almost knee high that i purchased for $20 recently, keep my dry, clean and warm.

You can't pump yabbies in Sydney Harbour. I'd be interested to know if you can buy them anywhere.
Not sure if im allowed to post tackle stores but i usually pick mine up at Drummoyne Bait and tackle they have a facebook, i usually buy few nippers and worms when im there and always work a treat

Ok, so I could buy a PE2 rated rod and fish anything up to the max weight, sounds very versatile.
Thanks
Yep! thats what i've been doing and so far has been performing very well especially with the slow jigs
-
I'm also interested! just recently acquired a boat also

Hi
with the gomoku rods, they all have a max jig weight but no min. Is there a min weight or do they work with all weight jigs up to the max?
Thanks
Michael
I don't think they have a min weight... i was using 20-40g lures on my Gomoku which was rated at max 300g and it still performed smoothly, hope this helps

I really hope for the coin you shelled out for that setup you find yourself a few monster Hoods this season Jackie!
I hope so too! I've only just recently acquired a 6m boat and this will be my first kingfish season, so there is A LOT for me to still learn such as, kingfish locations, baiting, live baiting, jigging all the nitty gritty stuff. I've only ever hooked up to one 83cm Kingfish last season on a charter, so im hoping for the best! thanks night_rider

I just bought myself a micro jigging setup for the coming kingie season! also used for snapper etc,Im using the Storm Adajo PE 3 matched with a overhead daiwa saltiga 15H, still havnt used it yet but keen as
