  1. Hi guys

Looking at spending 2 days in Terrigal next week. Got a heavy spin setup, light spin setup, and 9 weight fly setup with me. Keen on casting some lures (not bait as don't have the gear with me) land based. Have a car so will be mobile.

Does anyone have any suggestions on places to try, what with and times of day/tides?

    Thanks in advance.

Not my area of expertise but you could try for luderick off south Bondi rocks near icebergs using a weed fly.

Rose Bay would be another local spot to try for estuary species but not sure what patterns to recommend.

Thanks Jdanger. Are there any fishing shops that you know of in the Bondi area which would be able to advise on where to give things a go?

They do take lures, soft plastics, dead bait and live bait. If you ask most fishos live squid is your best bet for a King.

Sounds good - I'm in Sydney next week for a few days and plan to give some of the ledges a go... Fingers crossed!

  4. Hi guys

I've got a few days in Sydney next week and have got my 9 weight fly gear with me. Would love to have a go at some flathead or anything else that can be tempted by fly. Am not from the country so not sure what to expect so any advice on patterns to use, where to have a go and what tide state/time of day would be really appreciated. I will be based in Bondi.

    Cheers

    Kieran,

good reports coming from the Coxes River, the Fish River is holding a good volume of water and early reports indicate good conditioned Browns and spent bows recovering. If you need some access points send me a Pm. It will pay to have a topi map for the areas I can let you know which ones you'll need these will show crown roads and legal access points.

Mate if you will have access to the hire car forget Sydney and head straight to Jervis Bay. A google search on LBG down that way will have you sorted out fairly quickly.

Saboo thanks for the suggestion... I have been looking at Jervis bay with interest but I concluded that I will there too early on in the season... Or am I wrong? Not anticipating catching a Marlin so if there's other big pelagics around then I'd defo be keen to give Jervis bay a go... Let me know what you think.

Is there somewhere I could camp/stay down that way?

    Cheers

Hey man, I am not very familiar with the eastern suburbs, but if you decide to come to the northern beaches you can try. Old mans hat, the ovens at whales beach, blue fish point and north or south curl curl rocks. to name a few spots. always wear the necessary safety gear and try to get some local information on whatever ledge you decide to fish. good luck

Thanks Mauricio. Sounds like a good option. Who/where would be best to get the local information on the ledges there?

Hey mate I fish similar spin gear for kings around that time of year. Poppers, stick baits etc. I usually head a little more south than Bondi though. PM me if u want details or join for a session. I usually fish pre first light to  around 8-9 am, tide dependant.

Cheers - have sent you a PM.

If you're after fly stuff I'm thinking its too early in the season.

Are you thinking this style of fishing? Thats south coast, but theres no reason it wouldn't work up north or even on the eastern suburbs rock ledges?

    Hi Nick

Thanks for that - currently in China so YouTube is blocked... Frustrating!

Have caught flatheads on fly before so will give them a go...

Once I'm out of China I will check the video out.

  10. Hi guys

I'm going to be passing the blue mountains area mid-November and may have a day or so to play with. Have got my 5wt nymphing gear with me and would love to have a go at some trout.

Not from Australia and have never been before so any advice anyone had on which river and where to fish would be great.

    Cheers

  11. Hi all

I am going to be in Sydney for a week in mid-November and would love to have a go at fishing some of the ledges which are accessible from land. I'm not local so am starting from scratch in terms of knowledge of the area. I will have a 50lb spin/popping set up with me as well as a 9wt fly set up too.

I will be staying in the Bondi area and may rent a car for a few days so I could be mobile if needed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could have a go at throwing some lures/poppers for some pelagics/game fish? Also the best time of day/tide to fish them and what works best?

I would also be keen to try throwing a few flies around in the harbours/flats/beaches so if anyone has any advice there that would be great too.

I'm based in Kenya so am used to walking in to inaccessible areas and roughing it so have no worries if there are any off the beaten track options.

    Thanks in advance!
