  1. Hey Guys,

Just have a couple more questions. While looking around at the $30k mark. There is the Subaru Forester Diesel and the Nissan Pathfinder Diesel available around the same price.

Do any of you guys own and tow with any of these? Just want to see if there are any problems?

    Thank you :)

No idea about the Pathfinder and can only say I have not had any issues with a Forester (petrol) version

  2. I own an XT turbo 2.5 litre. I used to won a 317KW Senator which would make you forget that you had a trailer on the back

    Hey Squidboy,

I had a 4.35 Brooker and use to tow it behind a AH Astra 1.8L. I now have a 2.5 XT just like yours and am looking at buying a tinny upto 5 metres. I would be interested in knowing how your Foz tows your boat when you get it.

    Best of luck

    Jase

  3. I am sure Elwood Blues & I will be there..... I am not allowed to go by myself anymore as I usually end up throwing a tantrum cause I want all the boats and get removed by security.

The missus refuses to take me.... God I can't wait to get another boat

  4. Thanks Raiders,

I appreciate the comments, and can only hope that these dropkicks are caught before they get to anyone elses boat. These guys are quiet, they removed it from a quiet dead end st, neighbours didn't hear a thing.

If I ever get to replace it one day, I will ramset the boat into the driveway, behind a barricade, fit a motion alarm, electrify the tow bar and weld up a spike strip in front of it...

That might slow these ba$tards down a bit.

At least I know these scumbags are not fisho's! There is no way a true fisho could ever commit such a low act, in particular at the beginning of what should hopefully be a great 2011 Kingy season.

Thanks for keeping an eye out

    Jason

  5. Dear fellow Raiders,

I just thought I would share a quick rant and vent session on the above topic.

Some worthless waste of humanity has decided that they needed to steal my tinny, obviously because these human rejects are too useless and lazy to get off their backsides and actually do an honest day's work.

I really do hope I run into these useless excrement eaters in the near future, so that I may inpart to them the moral benefits of being a hard working member of society.. .

Anyway guys. The details of my boat are:

    Brooker 4.35 Getabout

White with a blue bimini - rego IDR094N

    Brooker trailer - rego U-85720

Suzuki 40 2 stroke on the back.

I have added a pic of the boat just in case, the pic is old now, the boat has a small rocket launcher attached to the bimini and fish finder etc. The boat also has some distinctive marks that will be impossible to cover up. I imagine it is sitting in someone's shed or on it's way to qld by now..

It was stolen between 5pm Sunday 26th and 3pm Monday 27th from Croydon inner west area.

If you do see the A holes with the boat... Please let me or the cops know. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to these turds.

Cheers and please keep your boats safe!.

  6. Hey Raiders.

Just a quick report to share one of the greatest experiences of my life..thinking about it, it does not say a lot for me...

I was lucky enough to accompany Dave (Elwood Blues) on a trip to Port Mac last weekend to test out some new gear.

We arrive at our mate's place for the obligatory meet & greet catch up, checking our watches and staring at the water in the canal behind his house.

With true kindness our mate could see our pain, he let us head straight to the water with four new rods between us. One of the set ups I had taken included a Sedona 1000 and 1-3 Sic stick, which I was desperate to test......I tie on the leader, tie on a orange big eye blade and sailed out my first cast.

For a pretty basic combo I was really impressed by how smoothly the line peeled off the spool.. I clicked over the bail arm very pleased with my purchase, you could feel the vibration of the blade through the rod tip.

THEN SMACK, the rod loads up, a couple of short runs and boom lands a legal flattie.

To say I was stoked would be a massive understatement, the first time I have blooded a new combo on the first cast "awesome".

The rest of weekend went well except the baby flatties that were in plague proportions, we couldn't keep them off our lines. I ended the weekend watching a bloke in the canal score a huge taylor on a popper & I had a great fight with my PB Trevally who measured in at 43cm.. That little combo & and blade is quickly becoming my new favourite outfit hehe,

Cheers for reading my incoherent ravings & hope you have good luck this weekend.

Dave thanks againg for a top weekend mate. Great fishing, plenty of bacon for brekky & top company ...does it get any better than that!

  7. Hi Jason .all the charter boats are at the front of the waterfront bar.Large and small you will find one their to suit your budget.Love Port Villa we were their over new year.Went with the family, happy to share any tips about the place get in touch with me next week.

    Cheers Stephen

    Hey Reggie,

Good to hear from you mate, hope your doing well. I am very excited about the trip & every website of Vanuatu fishing I see if driving me nuts haha.

We are looking at a place just five minutes out of Port Villa, so I will chase you up later next week buddy.

I have to send you some pic's of the mods Elwood Blues & I made to the Brooker, taking out that back seat made a heap of room.

    Best regards mate

    Catch you soon.

    Jase

  8. Mate its a great place, my tip if you are going to port villa is to take a stroll down behind the casino and markets, check out the boats and talk to the skippers that are there.

Negotiate a price on a boat you like and go for it. Forget the bookings from the tourist places you can get a better deal.

We are Just back stayed 10 days and returned just before the earthquake hit. The weather was a bit shitty when we were there so the fishing was not that good but we still had a ball. P.S make sure you take some gastro tablets with you we all got a bit crook in the guts from the local food.

    Cheers

    John

Brillant. Thanks for the info mate, will pack the err imodium?? haha, Hell I am so desperate for a good fish, i need a fix!

    Thanks again John.

  9. Where was my invite?

    HAHAHAHA

Since when did you require a damn invitation mate!

9th Sept Dave book your time off, I hear it is Marlin season??? don't know if that is true

A nice Marlin would ensure the safety of my sanity (from the inlaws HAHA)

  10. Hey All,

Scored a bonus from the missus for putting up with her lovely family (wonderful people).

A quick trip to Vanuatu is on the cards mid next month, my bonus is an uninterrupted fishing charter while we are there.

I know there have been mentions of Vanuatu trips on the site before & was hoping if anyone had recommendations they might pass them on?

I still have to sort out the accommodation too, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  11. Wow good question..

    Three spring to mind.

1, My first legal Jewie in the Georges river. (peeled prawn on very light spin gear)... now to crack the magic 100cm.

2, My longest fish, a lovely Fijian Barracuda, caught just off the island they filmed "Castaway" on. (hard body diver)

3, I guess the best catches of all, happen when you put a kid onto their first fish.. Makes me smile everytime!

    Have a good one Raiders.

    Jase

  12. Hey,

Hope your daughter has a great day with heaps of fish.

My suggestions would be Narabeen lakes if you can get to it, found an area near "woolies" bridge? south of the pool. There was plenty of parking & right next to the water. Lots of sand, shallow edges & fish.. Flatties, bream, whiting.

Balls head (maybe not for kids?) Lavender Bay? Clifton Gardens? around Spit Bridge?

I am sure the Raiders will have tons of places for you to try.

    Have fun.

  13. G'Day everyone,

I went for another high tide run last night down the local on LCR.

After berleying up I sat back in the freezing cold and rugged up with a coupla beers.

Fist cast got pinged on a good fish right in close to the structure under the wharf.

Got lots of great bites after this time and a couple of squeelers early just before the top of the tide due @ 10:15pm on prawns, the mullet was getting bites but nothing like on the prawns.

When the tide swung I berleyed again and this time the opposite was happening, that is... prawns werent getting touched and mullet was getting big hits.

around 11:00pm the little Okuma went screaming zzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I jumped and grabbed the rod to find some serious headshakes and a fish with plenty of go...

I set the hook and it was on... he went ballistic and I never had a bream take line like this on full locked drag (4kg)

The fish ran wide about 30m then around the wharf I was fishing, luckily I walked straight past my net I knew I was going to need it.

After a good 10min tussle on 6lb up surfaced a 47cm Bream (43cm to the fork)

He weighed 1.8kg and was a HORSE of a fish, and a new benchmark PB on bait for me to better in the coming weeks.

Next stop 50+cm is the aim and this one will be C'n'R only

    STOKED!

Got a few nice piccies of this beast I'll upload later today.

The school moved on after I took this one and the bite went dead.

Left @ 12:15am home by 12:30am before hitting the sack

Another cracking night but was awefully cold on the water.

    Stay tuned for piccies

Go get em lads they are out there, and I have finally cracked the code for consistent 40+ bream on bait in close to structure...

Tip: 3-5 days after full moon and 2-5 days before New moon are the best times, swinging tide is essential as is berley.

    Tight lines all

    Anthony

    Congrats Anthony.

    Stonker fish mate!

  14. Mate I purposefully leave one under the floor in my bildge it's nice and dark and wet , in the hope that one of my mates will forget his inflatable on comp day and have to wear my mouldy old yellow brick , with that stinky pungent smell :badair: for the whole day !!!!

But if you really do want to clean it I did clean a couple up out of my old boat and I used BAM , it was a mould killer version, I was worried about it wrecking the material so i put it on scrubed it for about 2 mins then hosed them off , they came up really well and didn't seem to have any obvious damage .

Maybe you could just clean one up for the mrs and leave the other one in case you have a mate onboard ? :biggrin2:

    Bubba

Thanks Bubba I will give it a go.

    Jas

  15. Hi All,

Having a big clean out of the tinny this weekend & I noticed some of the lifejackets ( just the standard big blocky PFD's) There appears to be like a dirt residue which my mate informed me might be mould.

I am just wondering is there a preferred method to cleaning lifejackets without damaging them?

Obviously, I could just spray on some mould killer but not sure if that would bleach them or breakdown the material?

Is washing with soapy water an alternative??

    Thanks in advance

    Jason

  16. Hey,

    Where abouts were you fishing?

Some mates brought in some very nice whiting off the sand just down from Tom Ugly's.

Bait was bits of prawn & sand worms.

Might be worth giving a try... not to far from the boat ramp.

    Cheers & good luck

    Jason

  17. Hi Guys,

my usual partner in crime is laid up with a bum foot.

I've been working my butt off for weeks and with the bad weather... really hanging for a session.

My boat - old 4.5M quinny with a 40horse mariner ( or yours...)

    Any offers?

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hi Mate,

I would jump at the chance but have booked in the Saturday to make some much needed alterations to my boat.

Not sure if you would be up for a run on Sunday?

    Cheers

    Jas

  18. Hello All,

    I need your help.

Sometime between midnight Thursday 17th June and Friday morning 18th June some scume stole my pride and joy :1yikes::ranting2: .

My Cougarcraft Reef Hunter 5.5 custom built plate alloy and trailer were taken from outside my friends house in Malabar a 50k boat.

    post-4243-127743137962_thumb.jpg

    post-4243-127743138271_thumb.jpg

I sometimes park it outside his house when there is work going on in my street and I am only 1 block away it was only their overnight.

They had obviously been watching my boat for a while as they turned up with a spare trye for my trailer and removed the wheel from the trailer wich had a lock on it and also managed to attach the trailer to their car in spite of a coupling lock on the tow connection.

I am shattered as you could all imagine and am hoping due to the limited number of these boats made that someone will see it if they are stupid enough to try and use it.

If you do think you have seen this boat the please contact Maroubra Police 93499299

The boat is named "Rastas" and I only recently attached new stickers which are not show in the attached photo but the nae Rastas appears just after the rego number.

I am posting these details to as many places I can in the hope that we can catch this scum.

Please do not approach these people if you do see my boat, Maybe better taking a photo and contacting the police, If the boat is hooked up to a car then please get the car rego.

I know this is a long shot people have suggested it's on it's way to QLD or the scap yard, I just can't believe the balls of some people.

You can PM me if you think you have any details on this topic,

    Thanks fellow Raiders.

    Hell mate,

There are not enough foul words in the world to describe these mongrels.

First, I hope you get your boat back she is a stunner.

Secondly, I hope these #*@^'s find themselves in a world of hurt.. perhaps if found you should take them "fishing"
