  1. I was talking to a mate who owns a tackle store in Vic recently and he suggested staying away from Penn these days which goes against everything that was true when I was a kid. He reckons unless you can get something that is made in the USA from them, that most of it comes out of China now and isn't built to last like they used to be.

There might be some cheap imitation's out there.I Purchased a New Penn 50 last week, they are still made in America.

A little bit pricey, but their stickers are good quality and a very fast online service. I ordered mine on a wednesday and had them by friday.

Thanks for that. Out of interest is your boat parked in front of your house at Doonside. If it is, nice boat I drive past it all the time it must be 7 to 7.5m long?

  3. Hey James Sounds like you had a tough day on the water. I had a tough day last Monday I couldn’t wait too see land. Out of interest what lure did hook the YFT on? I might go out on Tuesday did you find and temp breaks? You should post a picture of your new toy mate.

  4. I would love to see a night on rigging dead baits for skip and swim baiting, with a bit of hands on teaching....

I did a bit of it in Cairns and loved it, brought what I learnt back to Sydney and now use it here....would love to see how the Sydney Pro's do it.

Also interested in the swap and sell night, sounds great.

    sounds good keepin_TABS

  5. fisherman_Sam, it all depends on how deep the water is that you’re jigging in. I use no less than 250g jigs when jigging in 100-130m of water. If you only want to buy a couple of jigs, you can't go past the Daiwa Sacrifice Stick Jig. This is how one of my mags describes the jigs. I hope this helps.

A versatile bottom jigging lure for a broad variety of game fish. The unique shape creates a slow fluttering on the sink while shoulders cause the bait to swim when retrieved. Detailed prism scale finish and 3-D eyes. The lure's "Wing" shape creates a slow, fluttering action on the sink for greater time in the strike zone. It also reduces cranking resistance on the retrieve
