Thanks mate! We use run all simrad gear and NSS EVO 3 and this was just running off the basic transducer as we were in shallow water.

great bag of fish. What's the fish in the salad and how is it prepared?

Hey mate, the dish prepared was simple and I used bonito essentially raw fish marinated dish is known as poke

  4. The crew decided to have a casual day and stay in close since the word on the marlin was quite. Covered a total of 150km fishing a variety of reefs since fishing was slow and the results speak for themselves.

Managed to cook up a nice feed of bonito photo attached below

  5. Finally, with a nice break in the weather the crew took the opportunity to troll some lures and try for this so called stick face 🤷‍♂️. Well no stick face to seen with these glamours conditions however, the crew managed a consolation prize a 14kg bull. As well a good feed of crabs so not a bad day fishing 🎣

    Nice one

Can you please PM me the name of that charter.

Thanks! I’m fishing off my own boat. So no charter here haha

  7. The crew made an impulsive decision to go out fishing for the weekend after viewing the forecast. Casual afternoon fishing at its finest a nice 90cm (6kg) kingfish followed by a fantastic feed of reef species and a gummy shark.

Great catch, heard nothing about a mako, was it positive attention or negative?

By the way how far north are you, or is it a secret😉

Thanks mate, check out the previous post about the mako and was broadcasted across national television.

Haha I’m at the Great Barrier Reef mate

  9. With all the media attention in Sydney after catching a mako the crew decided to push north. A decent break in the weather meant the crew had an opportunity to push to the wider reefs although slow fishing, there was plenty of quality fish. Which include, an 8kg red emperor and cobia. And it isn’t a fishing trip up north without a feed of mud crabs 🦀

Thanks mate, what's the roughest conditions you would consider going in? (Knots and swell)

Hey mate I consider 15-20knots fishable depending on direction. However, I have been caught out in 30-40knots southerly off Queensland. Hope this helps.

Well done fellas! You made the news by taking that beast of a mako Home! Haha

There were bizarre scenes on Sydney’s roads on Sunday as a group of fishermen transported a mako shark across the city.

    cheers scratchie!!!

Haha drivers showed weird reactions. Few people questioned what it was and if it’s real.

I saw a video of your shark hanging out the back of the boat on Facebook today. How's life as a quasi-celebrity?

Haha enjoying the few minutes of fame before it’s gone.

Nice, what boat are you in and how many km offshore were you? (I'm looking into a new boat)

Hey mate, I’m a 670ht barcrusher and. We usually fish anywhere from 5-100km offshore

  13. With marlin firing the crew decided to pack the lures and push wide off Sydney. Managed to hook up at approximately 6:40am to nice black marlin unfortunately, dropped it boat side😭. Lures back in the water and 10minutes later another marlin came into the spread unfortunately could not get the hook to stick. We trolled to browns as we planned for a drop checked the sounder and and was barren. Lures back in and and started trolling again where we managed to stumble across new ground. Set up the spin gear with a jig and dropped down few pumps and were hooked up and fighting after a good 30minutes a blue eye surfaces. During this time we managed to spot a free swimming mako 🦈 fed it a bait and after a good solid fight we had it boat side and went 164.85kg. Overall, the crew went 2-2-0 on marlin and 1-1-1 on mako can’t complain with that.

Great job boys. I've always wondered, that if I caught one and it was a long battle, how I'd be able to get the fish in the boat if it weighs 60kg. I guess I gotta spend some time at the gym before fishing!

Thanks! Haha when the adrenaline is usually still high at that stage. The problem arises when you need to get the fish out of the boat onto land haha

    Great going there guys.

    Thank you!

  17. Teambaitcatcher had an excellent opportunity to push out wide to chase some fin off Sydney which was made possible due to 1st mate mobile marine.  We contacted our great friend Dean, a charter operator to give us an idea and location as to where to look.

After countless hours of trolling in not so ideal conditions  we managed to find a patch of fin

went 10-10-10 only keeping 3 fish for a feed (3 people onboard)

Most fish were caught on a jigs and the biggest going 61kg

Pm us for the name of the charter operator (site rules)
