[Kayak fishing Coffs Harbour]

Hey guys me and a mate are going up to Coffs for the week over Easter with our families and taking our hobie kayaks.
 

Just wondering what the conditions are like exciting the harbour  and over the shallow reefs just outside? We are used to snapper fishing up to a few kms out from shore is there anything we should be weary about? And in April will the mackerel, and longtail still be on the bite?

[Electric motor size for formosa 580]

Hey guys just wondering if anyone can give me an idea here, we have just bought a formosa 580 and live in port Stephens, what size electric motor will I need to hold a 6m boat???

 

On my old 430 I had a 54lbs motor, I’m thinking I will need 112lbs due to the large volume of water running through the bay?? Would 80lbs be under gunned?

[Thinking of buying a Formosa 550]

Yeah it’s likely to be 50/50 for both so it’s really a toss up. Gonna try and crawl over them up close to get an idea of size and space. Just wondering what ppls thoughts are for the Formosa’s sea worthiness as well?

Hey guys just found this site as recently moved to port Stephens from the uk 😋. Me and my dad are looking to get a new Formosa 550 centre cab or bow rider (fishing or family first not decided yet) just wondering if anyone has experience of owning a formosa or been on one and what their thoughts/reviews are?

looking for a boat to get outside and fish Broughton but also good for a family day in the bay. Other suggestions also welcome but looking at a tinny due to towing capacity of our cars.
