Just went and had a look at the Hunter River near home , really awful , dead Jewfish , tailor, bream ,whiting etc , lots of big .ones ,all dead , apparently caused by all the recent rain .

A "black water event" , a natural occurrence it seems 

EPA says it will take at least a year to recover .

The hard part for me is I fish 90% of my time there so I'm going to have to fish the Harbour or Lake Macquarie

[Portable Fish Finders?]

Hi 

I own a "Lucky" brand hand held fish finder/sounder that I bought on line from "Wish" in China.

I have used it for about 3 years , it's USB rechargeable , does everything the cheaper fixed units can do and has been really reliable /has a floating transducer that I have tethered to an old hand caster

It's waterproof but make sure you get the better ones as I can't speak for the sub $100 units
