  1. That's a nice snapper alright Vince  I'd say you would be extremely happy with that Haines Hunter centre console.....I reckon it would be a good Hawkesbury boat to fish in when the fish start to liven up as a north easterly turns a bit too blowy for the tinnies......by the way Vince, would you have preferred to have clears for splash guards instead of a solid colour?

    Cheers

    jewgaffer :1fishing1:

Byron. Havent fished the hawkesbury for ages. My big bream and big whiting days are now but a memory.

I plan on chasingbig kings, snapper and bills this summer from the little Haines. Will have to pick my days for Marlin but hey everyone should be doing the same.

Clears Vs Solid coloured dodgers.. Clears would be nice but the boat came with whats on it and i am keeping them till they bust. And besides i reckon it looks quite good the way it is.

  2. Sorry. Caught on plastic.

The light outfit is a megabass XOR silver shadow 72ML. Basically a beefed up bream rod. Reel is a branzino and running 12lb braid with 15lb leader.

I wish I could have stayed out there all day

  3. Guys I am stoked!

Had a great session today. Started off very early on first light hooking a Stonker Red on my second cast. Chased it down in very shallow water and to have the hooks fall out just meters from the net. I was heart broken.

Fishing was slow for a while then it happened again.

Changed locations and on the second cast again i was on... This fish went nuts! long blistering runs on my light setup. Things held together this time and after a long battle I Landed this ripper!

    my new PB Red.

    Stats. 77cm and 4.5 kg

    Enjoy!!!!!

  4. I run 2 downriggers and have never noticed any difference with hits. I have 2 Chrome Shark bombs, 2 stock round bombs and a combination of all the above. No difference if you ask me as far as hits are concerned but yes with the chrome sharks the cable doesnt hum as much if that bothers you.

  5. on ya kingy kid!!!! Lovely pitty king.

still trying to decide which is the better rig, the double single hook rig, straight for the top hook and Circle for the bottom or straight for the top and trebble for the bottom as the stinger. I know i have pulled quite a few hooks with the trebbles but i have found the hookup more frequent..... Havent pulled many circles but have missed a lot more fish.

    What do you think?

  6. Hey Icey

The 101 Minn Kota will pull it and Timmy Morgan recons they can get a shaft long enough but it will still pop out when out at sea. They need the motor clip on ones with remote.....

    G

    Perfect for those stelth missions.

  7. Greg.

That boat of yours was easily the sexiest going around and it looks as though it just got 20% sexier!!!

Please explain that front sounder setup again? does it run off the same transducer as the console mounted sounder / display or is it stand alone?

How have those Reds been treating ya? Some good fish beng caught lately..... :biggrin2:

  8. Took my "bathtub battleship" out yesterday arvo after getting a heap of mods done including a massive 110 lt fuel tank under the console of the boat. (levels out the boat sooo much better and changed the whole performance of the boat in slop).

I Couldnt wait to test it out in choppy water. I got my wish thats for sure. the winds were very strong and the chop around the heads even crazier to say the least!

Boat performed even better than ever in the messy Chop. getting the boat back on the trailer at drummoyne was another experiance in itself. Lucky a guy that had just landed his little inflatable gave me and a mate a hand. I reckon i would still be there now and the boat in a million pieces if he didnt.

    If your out there THANKS!!!!!

  9. Quick report.

Basically havent fished in over 6 weeks or so since i have been moving house etc etc.

Slept in and hit the ramp at 10:00. Out to the grounds and plugged away till 14:00.

Was very quiet, no kings, not even many bakers, pike or jackets.

Landed 2 reds with the bigest going 55cm. Also had my pants pulled down big time again. (seriously i am sick of getting bricked) Its amazing how hard these things go when they want to!!!!

  10. I am runing a 60 E-tec on my 445F haines hunter and finding it is a top combo. I usually travel over 60ks a day mostly flat out and in a heavy boat like mine dont use more that 16 liters.

If you do a lot of idoling then then i found the plugs are screwed after 80hrs but the rest is great.

I personally would go either the yamaha or the etec. Filp a coin but the service you will get from BRP and our sponsor will be second to none and i speak from experiance.

    Good luck either way.

  11. +1 for all the above

It took me 2 years to gain confidence in heading up the hawksburry in thick fog at night. about a year to do the harbour solo at night and i have been fishing boath for about 20 years.

Botany scares the .... out of me at night if a weather change is on its way.

    Take care.

  12. Serious Red for anywhere never mind the river. Those waters hold some great fish though. Been fishing down there for 20 years and have caught some decent reds in the river but NOTHING even close to that. Again TOP FISH!!!!
