  1. Gday raiders,

I am hoping to have a good go at the yellowfin this season and was wondering , from bellambi boat ramp what would be the most productive grounds and how far from the ramp would it be ,thanks.

  2. Mate and i headed out on Saturday. Plan was head to the peak then out to Browns. Got to the peak, we both started getting sea sick. So my mate went to lay down, i dropped a bait and started jigging. 15mins later he stood up hung his head over and out came last nights thai dinner. We persisted for another 15mins driving around looking on the sounder for fish but nothing. We wernt feeling any better so decided to head back.

    Hey Grimo,

Dono here bud stick a photo of the new rig .

  3. Good to see another gong member.

Last year i booked the trip for my dads birthday, just hoping he might catch the snapper he will never forget. We flew down to Adelaide then jumped in the hire car and drove to whyalla. I invited two mates to come along, Shane the human esky and Dazza. 5.30am Sat with a 20km north wind blowing we made our way to the first drop 23km to the south of whyalla, with no hits after ten minutes we moved to the next reef. I picked up a small red of 42cm. Skip said pull em up boys were movin so to the next reef we go, shane hooked up on stingray that could not be lifted so the line was cut. We moved again to the next reef were the ol man hooked a gummy shark which kept him busy for a while and then we moved again to the next reef, by this time the wind was around thirty five and the sea was a white out so we called it a day. The skipper had done everything in his power to put us on fish but no result, On saturday we covered 100nm in sloppy conditions. The wind was around 40kts before i went to bed it looked like we had not much hope for sunday, up at 4am i could hear rain hitting the roof. I opened the front door looked out and to my suprise the trees where dead still not a breath, had bacon & eggs then we made our way to the marina for a 5.30 start. We headed out to the first reef i baited dazzas 8/0 with a lump of squid that would choke a horse, only five minutes into it dazzas bait is smashed and the drag on the penn was screaming the fish was netted a 8kg red. Didnt that lift the spirits of everybody looking at the fish bang im on now, and shane a double hook up then dad is on aswell triple how good is this i thought. when my olmans fish came on board even the skipper was impressed, this snapper went 1mtr long for 15kg the rest of them were between 8and 12kg. We bagged out before the sun came up HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD

  4. Hello raiders,

I am a Bulli fisho and spend my time between Stanwell park and Port kembla.I am after a few opinions of which fish for what month to target in this area. Also are there any raiders who are members of the Bulli workers fishing club ,I am thinking of joining .

    Thanks

  5. Hi raiders,

Just a short post to let you know the kings were going off at the bommie near hill 60. Started with the usual livey haul followed by the troll south along the breakwall to the islands when all hell broke loose. As we approched the first island with the bommie to the left a surface lure and a diver went off. Two undersize kings landed with about a thousand and five following them to the boat.

We started throwing red 4 inch soft plastics with a hit and land every time , they were so fired up you could catch them at the side of the boat by dangling your lure just under the surface . 20 fish caught and released all between 55 and 60 cm but we did see some crackers in the water with them. Good times ahead.

  6. Just wondering if there is any keen fish raiders in the bulli area. I am a 32 year old married builder with a boat and a lot of mates who are not keen fishos . So sometimes its hard to get a crew.

  7. yep that will just about do it .thanks heaps bud.

    these might help

  8. I live at Bulli and want to use bellambi ramp rather than heading down to kembla. Just after some marks for a good reef north of Bellambi and south of Stanwell thanks for any info.

  9. Left ramp at 7 and headed to northern breakwall for livies ,caught 15 yakas in 2 mins on japanese brand jigs with an attractant. Hibusa brand not sure on spelling but since i have used them i have never needed to burley and have caught enough livies for the day in 10 mins max.

Headed out wide to find a few schools but no luck, birds everywhere and going off but just could not find the fish to take a livie. We came back in to troll around the southern island at hill 60. On the north east corner we were counting down to three on every pass before the old favorite red and white qantas would get smashed by a bonnie. After releasing about 20 to 2kgs and keeping 2 for snapper bait called it a day and started thinking about the next trip.Could anyone give me some mail on a reef north of Bellambi ,thanks.

  10. hi there, heading of to port kembla next thursday and friday for the first time,we are planing on throwing a few platics around the warfs and jetties, could some one tell me if there are king fish around this time of the year, and if there is any speed limits in side the harbour.

cheers and thanks for any info

Fished kembla last weekend brained the kings , salmon and tailor. Troll any thing 10 cm or smaller along the breakwalls to hill 60. When you get a strike start throwing soft plastics and it will get smashed. Spear fishos found kings to 15 kg at kembla ,serious same blokes speared one at the banks 25kg .
