  1. Pump live nippers from the flats at Sandringham. Small pea sinker running upto a size 6 long shank hook. You don't need to cast far you can catch whiting from between your feet. Hold the rod and feel the bites. The whiting can suck the nipper of the hook and you wouldn't even notice if you weren't holding the rod. Good luck

  2. Nice catch Anthony, fresh whiting and flathead are the best.

Was down there last week and got a couple of smaller whiting and heaps of just/almost legal bream that went back. Interesting that you said they were further out, I found exactly the same thing. I normally fish one rod out deep and one really close in and the deep rod out fished the close one by 5:1. Might take a drive down tonight and fish the turn on dusk.

    Good luck

  3. Still a little bit slow at the moment. I picked up, and then proceeded to loose at my feet, 2 50cm ish flathead last week on soft plastics. Tried again on Friday this week for not a touch. Flicked plastics and some hard bodies. Live nippers as well in case the whiting were around. Worth a try for sure.

Good luck, let us know how you get on

  4. If any raiders are out and about today keep an eye out for a pod of dolphins. Am fishing at Dolls point and about 20 of the just swam past me very close to shore.

Ps have caught 2 50cm flathead so the bay is coming back to life for the summer

  5. Sorry can't recommend a charter there, but going by the amount of big fish we saw when we went diving you shouldn't be disappointed. As Jewhunter says the night markets are the best. Also remember that plastic bags are banned and they may search you when you get off the ferry. If you are going to Uganda try a charter for Nile Perch at Jinja. A bit further south Namibia has some ridiculous fishing along the skeleton coast. Kob are jewfish on steroids.

If you want any info on what to expect in any of the countries, not just fishing wise, send me a message, spent 3 months travelling Africa last year.

ps . still waiting to get the boat....

  6. Totally agree with you. Great summer evening spot to kill a few hours. Had some good catches there this year on flathead and whiting, plenty of travally up until a few weeks ago as well. Might go down and soak a few big baits for a lazy jew/nothing on TV session one night. But apart from that will probably wait, the same as your self till it warms up a bit.

  7. Hi there,

I fished the beaches at Ramsgate, Dolls Point etc a few times over the last two weeks and have got nothing for my troubles. Tried hard bodies, soft plastics and live nippers. Think I am going to give the area a miss for a little while and go for some drummer from the rocks instead.

    Good luck

  8. Hi guys,

Was wondering if anyone on here is a member of the St George and Sutherland Shire Anglers Club, or any other club in the South Sydney/Botany area. I am looking at joining one and am after a couple of opinions. Not that there is anything wrong with Fishraider :biggrin2: Wanting to know what you think about the facilities available and how it is run etc.

    Please PM me any replies

    Thanks

  9. +1 what obey1 said.

    Diesel or petrol?

Check the washers are clean and intact, and seated correctly before attaching etc etc... You might have drawn through an air lock already that is stopping you getting fuel. Did you have problems before you got the filter??

  10. Cheers Juggs.

The price that it is being sold for I wouldn't be to worried about having to re power, just kind of hoping it might be an easy fix :1prop: The boat and trailer look in pretty good nick, I drive past it every day, but will know more when I get a closer look. Not sure about the service history but will ask.

  11. Hello wise people of Fishraider.

I am looking at purchasing a 4.5m half cabin that has an old Johnson on the back of it. The seller says it idles fine both in and out of the water but dies as soon as he goes to move off. I am going to have a look at it on the weekend so will find out more then. What could be causing this. I was thinking old fuel as I know it hasn't had much use, or a split fuel line that is drawning in air. What other things could it be?

    Thanks in advance
