  1. Mate, Botany is not hard, if you are after a feed.

Pump some nippers, hit the shallows before sunrise on a rising tide, and cast where the water is just covering the sand.

There is a more than average chance of some good bream.

Else use plastics on the dropoffs for a good chance on flathead, or drift with prawn in Kograh Bay for the same.

If you keep your eyes open, look for working birds, be there REALY fast, and cast small metal lures for just about ...ANYTHING !!!

    Love fishing Botany

    Cheers

    See you on the water

  2. Yeah mate, same to much of that myself.

The rules are not too tight as it is, so you would expect people to follow them,

    but NOOOO

Lets keep everything, even the smallest fry.

Anyway, good shot on the kings, been catching some every outing the last few weeks.

Seems to be some good ones about.

Oh well, time for more

    Damit

Meant saw to much of that.

    To much  already.

Oh well, time for another

    :1prop:

  3. Hit the harbour again today, same old spot X (Not Y or S today)

3 kings boated 70cm to 75 cm (All released by the way, got enough yesterday) 2 hookups lost,

one on a POPPER, what cracking good fun!!!!!

They would not touch the plastic today, all on hardbodys, of which the buggers broke 2!

Trebbles lost, and tail broken of one :1prop:

Also nailed a 40cm tailor, which is in the form of fillets now for tomorrows tea.

Well, just thought I would share that.

    Now..................

  4. wats with the spot x y s or watever im allways seeing.... can anyone shed some light on this? or were on the forums i can find out some detail.s

Mate, its like this, we all put in the hard yards, finding spot x y s !

So I am sure you can understand that to say "go to the boye at this spot ........" is not exactly what we

(or I anyway) want to do, else all the good raiders out there will be meeting at spot x next time!

Anyway, my somewhat selfish take on things.

Seriously though, fish the structures in the harbour, note the time tide moon etc when you find kings or other fish, correlate the data in your diary, and you too will be writting about spot x y s in due course.

Took me 1 year of fishing 2 x weekly at the least to work out some spots where there are mostly kings at spesific times.

    Cheers

  5. Went out on an avro session in the harbour today, hit spot X just before dark.

Rain must have helped, but my mate Ross and I boated 7 kingies in short order, lost several more

and had plenty of missed strikes to add some ziing to the session.

Line went ziing......pling too as some kingies found good structure!

All fish between 67 and 75 cm, really fat the lot of them.

    Kingfish BBQ on Sunday!!!

    Enough typing, my arms hurt.

    Cheers all

  6. Hi all.

I will pitch in on the social!

Just me and my 4m tinny. I will take a deckie if someone needs some flotation assistance :)

Can bring the sweet chilly sauce if needed. How much do you need?

Looking forward to some good fishing.

    Cheers

  7. Hi

Whent for a quick fish today after work, only just got home.

Thought it was going to be another doughnut day, lots of surface action, however all small stuff chasing smaller stuff :1prop: Very few baitschools on the sounder.

On the way home I stopped at spot X and got stuck into some rat Kingies, boating (and releasing) 2 out of 3 solid hookups. Lost one due to a slipped knot (Yes I am embarassed, has not happened in years)

Numerous missed strikes and surface chases kept me at it well past the allowed time. Now of course :wife: .

Oh well, boat is clean and put away, so time for some  and a bath. ( I smell of fish Yehaaaa!)

    Good fishing to all

PS Please keep up any Harbour reports, I am waiting for the bait and predators to come back in good nummbers.

  8. I dont know that the surf would cause dead fish like that, as they were all small eels and leatherjackets, I do believe that they were trawler by-catch. Anyone else have any idea what else would cause that many dead small fish floating?

  9. gday mate,

where did you fish today? Just wondering if i saw you out there.

I was all over the Harbour, even got desperate and tried to do some trolling transitting under Sydney Bridge.. I have a small Blue Fin runabout.

    Cheers

  10. Left the ramp at 4am, hitt all the spots but nix, nada!

Strange water in the harbour at the moment, funny colour, and could not even find any baitschools on the sounder!!!

Only fish I saw where plenty of dead small eels and leatherjackets drifting around the harbour. Wonder what happened there. Possible trawler bycatch being "taken care off" in the usuall way the professionals have with our marine stock?

Anyway, big fat doughnut scored, only thing I caught was a young bird that had a lure stuck in its wing, and the line had been cut off about one meter in lenght. (Wrapped around the poor bugger of course). Removed the lure as gently as I could, then released the bird. He looked quite happy, however the parents where trying to dive bomb me out of the boat the whole time!

    What a racket.

    Cheers for now.

  11. Good mix there.

The fish could have been slimey mackerel,

there are huge schools about at the moment. Been picking them up on metal jigs,

sp`s and any bait that I throw out. They even get hooked on large hooks with pilchard, meant for

    bigger things!

Missing they big stuff that eats them though. Maybe all the big predators are lying on the bottom,

unable to move, for being so full.:)

  12. Started out 4h30 this morning, stopped at the channel marker of Goat Island, and the Kingies where actually sticking their heads out of the water around it!!!!!

    Splashing and chasing something?

Anyway, 2 casts 2 rats for some fun. Then they disapeared.

Chaught 2 Tailor further out, that was it.

Fun morning though, beats working ANY day.

    Cheers

  13. yeh thats what i hate so much about when governments respond to do something quickly over media hype. Very much like the p-plate restrictions. Its a quick response with no analysing over the new policies.

Anyways since all that is not allowed, wat bout down rigging?? and trolling it along?

If all you people is getting fed up why dont u just land base at the luna park side? i've seen these guys catch heaps of fish there. Sometimes jewies

Mate, you are right about knee jerk reactions. They need to tell the ferry drivers that they are not the next thing to god!!!

Absolute right of way my ass.

Anyway, it just pissed me off to see all that fish, and because of some jerk political wanker desicion I am not allowed to cast a line.

Somewhat like a new Marine Park .............?

Well. it justmade me :1badmood: .

Won't spoil my general love of :1fishing1: though!!!!

    Thight lines to all

  14. As far as I am aware , the only limitations are no drifting or anchoring . I went through there today at 15 , and was rounded up by a River Cat doing at least 22 !!

    Ross

    Hi

The signs unfortunately state no STOPPING or DRIFTING.

I stoped close to the appartments on the pillings, (About 5m out from the building) and got told to move by a guy in a Ports Authority boat. I was nowhere near the channel, but apparently the whole wateray is a no stopping area. Wonder how the guys mooring of Luna Park get away without a fine :1prop:

  15. Was my thought too...... a slow troll wouldn't be against the law would it?

I dont know if it is or not, however, fighting a big king on the move would probably mean a trip to the tackle store for a new spool of braid.

Maritime are so gung ho about this area, they will probably find a way to fine you. :(
