Cheers Luke I might take you up on that, I'm prepared to travel if it means fish, send us a pm if you don't mind.

    Evan,

  2. Hi mate

The Shangri la has its own charter boat that goes out daily weather permitting. Went last October , we managed to catch 2 mahi mahi a 5kg and 8kg and lost some others. My mate just got back from there last week and went on the same boat , they got a 12kg yellow fin tuna and lost one at the boat that was estimated to be at 60 to 70 kg, they also got a 10kg Spanish Mackeral... Dont think there is any other game boats in the area unless you drive to Denaru..

Cheers stacerboy, there is a black watch there and apparently a smaller boat aswell, but I just have herd bad reports about the black watch, I herd that half the time it comes in empty. I mean that's fishing but when your forking out a grand or so better odds would be good. Congratulations on your mahi mahi . Thanks for your reply

    Evan,

  3. Hey all , I'll be heading to the shangri la Fiji in march. I have read up on all the info I could find on here, which has been really helpful and will be sure to report in when i get back. but I really didn't come up with a good charter option. And also land based I know you can't fish around the island but can you jump on a kayak and paddle out a bit? any information would be handy thanks Evan,

  4. Hey mottyman,

Working on the water down grays point at the monent... Water looked awesome today! almost had to pack up the tools.. had about 12 boats come past before 9.. A shame you didn't get anything, hard fishing at this time of year though.. will be out there sunday!!!

  5. Put the boat in on sunday at a lazy 8 oclock and headed out to shark island for a solo drummer session. the water look prefect, not an ounce of wind. Due to the lack of swell there was hardly any wash but through out some burley and chucked out a few unweighted royal reds into the wash that was there. Spent about one and a half hours with nothing but one bust off. I decided to give it a miss and hook up with matt and chris who were out groper fishing and were nice enough to give me a couple of crabs. I had the overhead there with 30 pound main and 90 pound trace so i chucked on a crab and dropped it down. I also chuck out a unweighted royal red with my drummer set up 14 pound braid and 20 pound trace and chucked it in the rod holder. It was about half an hour before i got a hit on the crab, wow these things have some pull . It didn't have much size about it but plenty of kick.post-610-1122881613_thumb.jpg Just as i got it in the boat the other rod started screaming i grab it and pulled back to try and get it away from the bottom. i had the rod at 45 degress of the water and the rod tip was in it. after i fun little battle i brought in the second brown post-610-1122881891_thumb.jpg All in all a great day to be on the water and i can't wait to try and catch a blue..

    Cheers Evan,

  6. I just brought 2 from freddy's fishing world newcastle-- and paid 21.95 each, he only had 5 colours and no sx 48, said he was going to see how these ones sold.. i said that's why they don't sell any because you don't buy the range and people go else where. 16.95--- hmm saw me coming!!!!

  7. no you won't. its a curse, a fever..... you'll want more and more and more and bigger and bigger fish, you will want to catch them from land from sea, in night and in day!!!  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:  :074:

  8. Another newbie.  Welcome to the site Dragged  :1welcomeani:  :1badmood: .

I saw another good book in Dymocks the other day.  It was all about hard bodies and covered everything from the smallest up to marlin lures with instructions on how to run all of them.  Looked a good read and might have to go on my Fathers Day list.

sounds interesting--- did you get a name?

  9. maybe even a kingie???

    52613[/snapback]

I'm thinking large tailer or small shark, Kingies don't have the teath, looks like a clean bite. I have also pulled up small snapper like this, A shame they can't open there mouth a little wider and take the hook... :ranting2:

  10. Well Done norm, :1clap: That lake is just getting better and better.... everyone i have talked to thats been fishing there for years have said how much that it has improved.. I'll have to head back there for a bream session soon ..

    Cheers Evan,

  11. Whatching as boat after boat where trolling around the point at port stevens today. The chop made for excellent conditions as there was white water everywhere, One guy was useing a small pink skirt and was doing quite well, I have herd that pink is a good colour for the tailer, but skirts? does anyone else use them? Have also herd that there are bluefin in the bay so maybe that is what they where after. Seem to be doing alright on the tailer though!

    Cheers Evan,
