They are one of the best fish to catch

  4. I ask the question about lure fishing with plastics and a mate of mine Vinni has left me a new dvd and it was amazing to watch .I think I'll never learn everything about fishing as you just keep learning and learning.

You think your good catching Jews every time you go out but try catching the different fish these guys catch on lures and its all a different ball game.

They catch everything from jews from the shore to kingfish to bream ect.

This type of fishing is really new to me well we all play with lures but how many of us really catch with them and its something I'm really going to try now.

As for fishing I was all set for Sunday night with my mates son and his mate from school as dad had gone away for one of those great weekends without the kids but I was happy to take the boys out jewie fishing with just about every bait I need, fresh squid just caught plus baby ocky, slimy fillets thanks to a good fishing mate Paul and I noticed that the batteries switch had been left on for about a week or so and it did'nt start so I but a new battery on and it still did'nt start when I put the battery swuitch to both it rolled over and away we went.We got to the ramp and then we had smoke coming out from under the dash as one of the young blokes put the metal pole from the bur bucket onto the second battery which was not back under cover and it shorted out onto the al/fuel tank? I will repair and double check all wiring before heading out next time.

  5. Hey Pedro,

I have never had one so small I only kept it for reseach as I collect small jews for the Marine Environmental Research Sciences. These guys dump thousands of jews in Botany Bay. I keep all the heads and guts of all jews caught every week and then they come and pick them up for there testing on the fish.

  6. The quality of them is brilliant.  Oz Tackle sell a lot of items that are exactly the same as other makers, not copys, just the same thing in a different box.

I don't think so mate but anyway thats its name and the company which made them first so oz must be a copy.

As long as they work thats all that matters.

  7. This is a small jew caught on Saturday night and am handing it over to the re searches today,I just walk down to the club and clean and got two great fillets. The researcher need the guts and head of all the jews I catch for research as they have stained the bone(rocks)(pearls)ect in there heads with a blue ink and they do what they do with them as the have the jewie farms in Maitland and when there the right size last year over 20000 let go in Botany Bay from the St George motor boat club in Sans Souci.

I say bring em on and keep dumoing them into the bay as this season was slow to start but as may up for it big time.

  9. It seems there a quite a few jew caught from beaches, most that I have had first hand reports of have been from the ends of beaches or beaches with rocky outcrops in the middle. Places like Flat Rock up at Yamba and the reef at Lennox Head, and similar beaches around Coffs.

Thats right Matt but I'm wanting to really try something new and have a shit load of lures as my mate works for a company that imports every type of lure you can hope to fish with and trying to see what is the most popular. Also how they are fished as some people say just throw them in like a bait and sit and wait?or I 'm thinking more along the lines of casting near pillons of bridges ect .

  10. Thanks for the info and pics .There is some really good advise on this topic and no matter how many jew I catch you still never know everything. I am going to take some pics of the lures I have and post them so maybe someone has used them and I'm sure the ones that look like small bait fish would be good lures to use as when I send the guts of the jews away for testing in the labs I find that alot like the very small white bait.

    Thanks again guys great reply
