  1. Fished tuesday morning off the beach at Brighton le sands, caught 5 Bream, 2 whiting all keepers.

Plenty of undersize squire prior to the bottom of the tide where everything went off the bite for an hour or so.

Caught all fish an hour after the change on the tide

Fished from 6 till 11am used nippers for bait.

  2. Fished off the beach this morn after 2 hours sleep!

Beautiful morning... 2 legal Bream, used nippers for bait... no pickers for a change!

Caught also 2 stingrays and called it a day!

Good luck for 2012, and Happy new years Raiders!!!!

  3. Hey guys and gals...this question is probably asked all the time but what is the best way to catch yakkas ? Hook size and bait and so on any help would be awesowe...in all my years of fishing slot of the time seemed rushed but now wanna take my time and get out that little bit earlier and try and get some fresh bait and hook a real big fish :)

    size 12 longshank hook

    light line, 4kg is heaps

smallest splitshot sinker...just enough to get the bait down in the current

bread/dough or small pieces of prawn

and most importantly a quick arm to hook those slippery ones

  4. Yeah try the stretch of sand from kyeemagh baths through to novotel brighton, remember keep moving along a bit if you get no bites till you hit something. Also you will need to wade out to get a good cast in.

Try to use yabbies or worms and if you can throw out a pilchard on ganged hooks as there are the odd large tailer about at times

I use around the 6 kilo braided or mono line, and enough weight to get your bait as far as you can. 10 foot rod is perfect if you can. half metre trace, noticed it is still early in the season but should fire up by end of january and Good luck!

  5. Took the old man for a cast this morning off brighton beach, weather wasnt as promising as hoped....

However there was a break in the rain and decided to get out of the car and cast those rods, really had no choice as we had those yabbies clawing away in the live bucket.

Caught quite a few undersize bream (tossed back in)and kept 2 just over, managed also 2 bumper whiting both +35cm in lenght.

Also pulled up 2 large trevally +40cm plus, awesome mixed bag for the beach for a change

Good day out on the bay considering the weather and no boat! lol

Also saw a few schools of fish must have been bonnies or tailer just off the beach harrassing the baitfish there...

All caught on the rising tide.

  6. tough one there...... basically, you got a boat and you fish the bay away from shore quote 'middle of the bay'

But anywhere is good depending if the areas firing at the time, try end of runways and the oil refinery near kurnell

  7. Went on the fish today to see how Id go with the king tide in the morn..... Being land based at kyeemagh had absolutely no luck! used nippers for bait only managed a few just undersize bream and a couple of rays..... Not even whiting..... somethings going on!

I knew this would be the outcome as its just a little early in the season few more weeks should do it, however the king tide seems to sometimes put fish off

    Good Luck

  8. Hey there all.... :1welcomeani:

Went fishing this morning off Brighton beach near the hotel

Caught and kept one large Luderick, 2 large whiting 1 large mullet and one decent Tailor :biggrin2:

Heaps of just undersize bream, Tarwhine and snapper

All were caught with nippers except for the tailor on whole pille/ganged hooks :biggrin2:

Big surprise there wasnt much whiting around and the water felt a touch cooler, maybe the fresh water has flushed them out into deeper parts of the bay

Fished the just falling tide, very flat water, maybe too flat for my liking for fishing there today however a beautiful day from the misery weve been having the past two weeks.

Oh yeah almost forgot we lost a thumper of a Flathead up close, looks like he frayed the line and did the runner :1prop:

    Fished 0630 to 1030 hrs
