  1. Did you look at the Big Daddy with the 25 etec??

I had an etec on my previous boat and it was sensational. But 25HP on the 4.2 hull.

    Maybe a little underpowered (??)

I think I'll wander up to the dealer and have a look. Wonder what I could negotiate it down to. Currently $9k

  2. Well...missed out on that one.  Funny how it goes.  Maybe one of you guys bought it?? Lol

Anyway there's another I'm going to have a look at.  A Stacer 429 Rampage.

What are the Vortex motors like??  Another Chinese one I presume.....

  3. I used to own a Polycraft 4.55.

It was a great boat. Out in 4m seas it used to just bob above it like a cork.  Never felt unsafe are all.  Easy to clean and repair. Double hulls were great for ride comfort.

mine initially came  with a 40 Etec  but I upgraded it to the 60 which was heaps.

It is a wet boat though.  There needs to be a chine/rib or something affixed to the front to deflect water down. Some of the guys on the Polycraft forum got them welded on.  Makes a huge difference. I had a bowrider. I only sold it as we had a young son and it was impractical at the time. Wish I'd kept it

  4. Max HP - 25hp

    Bottom sheet thickness - 2mm

    Side sheet thickness - 2mm

It's a variant of their Core CSR384 which was given the badging of MR384 as these were boats donated to Marine Rescue for raffles (so I've found out).  They have flotation built into the seats. So he must have won that one.

  5. Agreed.  Rang him this morning.  Offered $3k.  Mentioned about the fact the motor wasn't a known brand.

He didn't even respond with a counter offer.

    Didn't even really say anything......

I'll keep looking. And keep all the above info in mind.  Ta.

PS, If anyone comes across anything that fits my criteria and is value then please let me know. :)

  6. Hi everybody.  I've been a long time away from this group since I sold my Polycraft, but I'm back (for better or worse....).

I just want to get a small tinny this time as 90% of the time I'm sure it'll be me going out alone :(  maybe the daughter.

This one came up for sale at $6k negotiable.  Motor is a Seaking, supposed to be a Yammy clone  Hull is Sea Craft.

Only been out 3 times, comes as shown with fishfinder ($300) and bilge pump.  No nav lights, I'd have to do them myself, which is no issue.

What do people think, especially the price??  I'm going to grill Ausmarine at the boat show on Sunday prior to going to have a look.

Anything I should look for (apart from the obvious cracks, motor runs etc).

    Thanks!

  7. Hi Chris, XD-100 is a bronze colour and when we mix it with the factory installed litre of Xd-50 (which is blue) it becomes darker. When you run a few tanks of oil thru her, which does take a few years, the oil will go a lighter colour. We have had a couple of oil tanks with a small leak around the base of the tank where the two halves are joined and runs down the mid-section and onto the AV plate. If not confident of removing the lower cowls yourself and inspecting the bottom of the tank contact us and book it in and we can check and if under warranty the tank will be replaced if found faulty.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

    Huey,

As discussed on the phone, I'll drop the beast in sat week (or thereabouts).

I'm good with electrics but shit with mechanicals :(

I'll also get you to install a between hulls bilge pump (wiring already done), plus some other bits and pieces.

    Thanks

    Chris

  8. XD100 is a very dark bronze colour, XD50 is Blue, XD30 is red.

    Sammy

You scared me there! I went down and had a look at the oil and it is dark brown,

Far out, I'd thought I'd put the wrong oil in the motor :1yikes:

  9. I've got a 60Hp E-tec (purchased from Huey) and it *may* have an issue so I thought I'd see if anyone may know.

Looked near the skeg today and there was a pool of "oil".

Kind of clear looking. Never seen it before, very little smell almost clear, not the blue of the XD100.

Any clues?? Some of the oil sitting on the lower motor leg too.

I'm off upto Newcastle on Sat so if it may be an issue I have the opportunity to drop past Huey and leave the boat.

    Still under warranty.

    Thanks

    Chriso

  10. "NSW Parliament passes laws to phase out unleaded fuel, replace it with ethanol blends"

    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,24756957-1242,00.html

What an absolute gem!! Typical of our non-thinking state government.

Let's just "legislate" to look "green" but not actually think of the consequences.

I refuse to put E10 in our cars, let alone boat or mowers etc.

I have an expensive E-Tec which I WILL NOT jeopardise using ethanol fuels (even though the manual says it is permissable up to 10%). The risk of water contamination is too great.

Oh well.....I guess we will all have to use premium then.....they're not touching that.....yet...

  11. Yep Polyboatowners is great. I'm a member and a 455 owner.

In fact, Huey did the upgrade of the motor from the 40 E-Tec to a 60 E-tec.

Goes great. Would like to start going out in it this season if only I could get away from the obscene amount of work we have on at this time (should be reasonably thankful, I suppose)
