  1. Thanks heaps everyone for the feedback. I didn't end up heading out but sounds like it was a beautiful day on the water. Still sounds like there arn't may fish around. I think the fact that there are still some dollies around is a bit of a put off on the bigger Tuna but that's just an opinion. I could be completely wrong....

  2. Yeah we went around the fads for a while. Lots of boats in close to them, so stayed pretty wide just trolling. Still had luck without interrupting the guys on lighter gear. Whats your call sign on channel 21?

  3. We went out yesterday without a touch from a beakie. Saw one free jumper but got nothing. Decided to change tactics around 2 in the afternoon and target some dollies. Ended up catching quite a few but nothing big. All were around the same size, either just legal or just under. Did a run along the heads to pick up a Kingy but just ended up with a tailor and bonito. All up not a bad day, was beautiful out there till the wind picked up, got some fish for the table which was good but nothing like last week. How did you go?

  4. We will have to give that a try. Have been talking about it for ages. It is also nice though to come back from a days fishing with a basically clean boat. Hope to head out tomorrow again. Anyone know if its still hot out there?

Nice work.......this is when ideally you would switch bait the beakie as stripes are frustrating and usually swipe at the lures, unlike the blacks and blues. A more effective method is when the fish are concentrated around bait balls, as you described, is to jig some bait (slimey's) from the ball and then live bait from around the edge. You can have multiple fish come up from under the boat chasing the baits....now that is great to watch the take.

  5. Went out trolling yesterday from the heads. Headed north out to the shelf and baitstation. Tagged and released a small black in that area, as well as bagging a nice sized dollie. There was some big game fishing competition taking place, with no one seeming to have much luck. Headed in closer, between 60 and 35 fathoms, and found the spot. Were getting strikes and Beakies on almost every run. Ended up getting 4 boat side, both striped and black. It was amazing however how many were taking the lures and dropping them within a few seconds. We had on stripey take one, drop it, swim up to the next one and drop it, then a third and fourth. Was amazing to watch though. Nothing like seeing a strike in action. Hoping to head out again this week, depending on work commitments. There were big bait balls everywhere, good temperature breaks and obviously some fish boat side. All up one of the best fishing days I have ever had.

  6. No worries. Thanks for the heads up. Have always checked reports on here regardless. Might put up a spread of some of the fish I have caught over those 8 years on the brag board. Been through 3 boats since then and finally decided on a Arvor 280as. Absoulutely perfect boat for fishing, as well as a lot more fuel efficient, than the bigger older ones me and my dad had. Hopefully get into some big ones this weekend. Weather looks like it could be perfect, fingers crossed

  7. Haven't been able to post on this site for a few years now beause of some rule saying that I needed an email address that was linked to some sort of organisation or something of the sort. Mine being a hotmail account, I couldn't for the life of me work out how to get my password reset or how to log in full stop. Anyway I was just wondering how people other than the professional charters have been going off sydney, either in close, out to browns or beyond in the heatons hill region? Been out times since my last plently of times since my last post and got into all of the big fish, including the unusual occurence of two years straight of blue fin as well as the usual yellowfin and albacore, striped, black and the occasional blue marlin. Just wondering whether anyone has been getting into anything decent over the last couple of days other than the small dollies that seem to be plagueing the inner water? I've read the reports on the occasaional marlin hookup but doesn;t seem to be much serious happening out there at the moment (obviously conditions haven't been ideal) but it defiantely seems that the warmer water is here and there are good temperature breaks. Any feedback would be much appreciated, I have a feeling it is going to heat up very very soon, or quite possibly is already starting to come alive out there. Cheers Tom

  8. thanks mate, it was a great feeling. funny thing was didn't even realise i had a marlin till i got right up next to the boat. It wasn't jumping at all. thought i had a absolutley massive tuna or something

  9. caught this a couple of weeks ago, just joined this site and thought i might add to the brag board. This is nothing on that beast photographed a couple of post down. Must say that the whole thing was eaten, so no need for anyone to get the shits that it was taken out of the water.

    cheers

    tom
