  1. Yeah Good Trout there Mick.

We fish Lyell a fair bit, and Rainbow Power Bait seems to work the best.

    Note:

Power bait. Fish light as possible, oo ball down to small swivel 500 trace size 10 hook and open bail arm.

Plastics, 2lb Braid, 1meter 2lb flurocarbon, 1/24 jig head and smelt or pink Plastics.

Trolling, Lead Line running Brown trout patternTassie devils will get you some good Browns.

    Good Luck. :1fishing1:

  2. Nice rainbow. Seems alot of people are having sucess with powerbait. Have to give it a try myself sometime.

Hey Chopper have you put Sal's 65cm Brown Trout from Lyell on yet.

  3. Good stuff Walrus.

Next time you go out take some 5" Berkley Shads in nucleir chicken colours and Gamakatsu darter 26 jig head's in size 3/0 - 1/4oz.

And when you find those snapper again drop the plastic's down. :1fishing1:

We find drifting over these spots very succesful, By casting forward of your drift and draging one behind on the drift in the rod holder.

When all is Quite move and drift the same spot or move a little.

    Good Luck.

  4. Went up to St Clair Easter weekend.

Around 1500 people had the same idea. :1badmood:

With only 7 Toliet's and 8 showers there were long lines of people waiting. :05:

Then they ran out of water and had to bring in a tanker of water.

On the fishing side of things.

Friday morning was great 1 yella at 480mm long and 14 bass to 410mm long. :1fishing1:

Then the change came and it was small fish and far and few between,Rain and

showers for the rest of the weekend. :1badmood:

  5. I only listen so I can hear your reports as well as Glen's reports, which have me keen to get back up to the lake.

I only really fish up there now between late March and late October so May sounds good. See how I go as it gets closer.

Is it an outdoor activity for the Seabees?

I'll maybe catch you at the next bream social and have a chat.

    cheers

  6. Yeah thanks rizzo.

The outfit belongs to my mate who i fish with. Good gear but still getting busted off. :05:

My gear was the Team Diawa 2500 loaded with 30lb braid and a team diawa rod. plenty good

enough for catching Barr Like the 95cm one my wife landed on this outfit Lake Monduran. :1fishing1:

I bought her a diawa 3500HD matched with a 15kg Rapala rod, But know she wanted the bream Rod.

Who was i to argue she kicked my ass. :wife:

    Weekdays are best i reckon.

Dave keep trying dont go to far out. some times you travel over all

These good snapper grounds without even knowing it.

Some times we dont even use $10 in fuel.

    Good Luck

  8. Snapper on Plastics

Fished down the far south coast where my neice and her husband live. we have been fishing for many years together all up and down the coast and have many unforgetable trips, and this was one of them. :1fishing1: Well all the planets must have been in line this day, up early 4am then on the water by 4.30am we made our way over to a bommie and around the breakers, the first couple of hours was zero.

But as soon as the sun hit the water a long cast was rewarded with our first snapper.

These snapper can bust you up real quick in shallow water as we found out around 6 bust offs on freight trains that would not be turned and mind you we are using Barra Gear, 30lb Braid & 30lb to 40lb flurocarbon leaders. :05:

    We landed 9 snapper to 4.25kg (77cm), 1 salmon 2.85kg (60cm) and 1 bream (35cm)

All caught on Berkley Gulps 5 inch Shad.

We had a great time landed 12 bream between us. Dave lost a good size flathead and also had a king on for a while.

Weather was heavy rain, wind, thunder and brown water. But the fishing was not bad :1badmood:

All around the Iron cove Birkinhead area.

    On Brekely worms,shads.shrimp and crawfish.

  10. You make some good points there Glen.

Im sure Pete can sell you some new grippers, maybe with a rope attached to wrap around your wrist.

Jet ski's don't count they are indroduced species not welcome on our fishing spots.

Thanks for the help Glen, Profile worked OK.

That was my little snapper caught down Shellharbour on half a slimie head. around 3kg.
