  1. Sounds like its not really an issue to worry about. I was down at clark rubber brookvale the other day and at the counter they had what they called "vibration pads" sitting up at the checkout which looked made for the job...that heavyhard black rubber in a criss cross pattern exactly the size of a battery. Might invest in some or stick with some of that thin high density foam.

I guess as long as u tie a battery down solid its not a huge issue...just wasnt sure.

i now added some rubber underneath the battery for impact, i also used a battery clamp to go on to 2 hook screws (full circle) to hold the clamp in place

  2. Looking great !!! Looks like some serious grunt in the sound system...thought about changing the name to doof doof ???

Got a question...i'm just about to embark on a big winter project and part of it will be repowering and rewiring...i wanted to sneak an extra 10-20kilo's onto the back by adding hp and thought if i placed the batteries fwd and balanced either side of the middle i could kill two birds with one stone...less fuel consumption with easier lift out of the hole , and less weight down back so i could sneak the extra horses.

Those battery boxes look great but my only concern when thinking about doing it is the added vibration and pounding the batteries might get up fwd..batteries dont get much of it down back and i;ve been told it could shorten battery life (something to do with plates or whatever). I'd love to get that weight away from the transom as u have done so i guess its the only minor concern i have doing it.

Was thinking about simply whacking a simple slab of 10mm very high density EVA foam under each battery to act as a shock absorber. Did u fit aomething to compensate for the increased pounding by beinbg fwd ?..if not have you or anyone else struck any issue ?..or am i worried about nothing ?

    cheers

    steve

    thanks mate

i haven't put anything yet to be honest but i will put something in the battery box and something under the battery box like foam or soft rubber to help with it, but my honest opinion is id rather replace them every 2nd year and have the space i want. i mean one of the batteries was already at the front and was just put under the floor and the third battery will be put int the box next to it. it doesn't seem to take to much of a beating where it is at the moment but i will put something to help minimize impact when i remember.

    cheers Rob

  3. Well done on the extreme boat makeover...... . awesome job . If you guys are making the new Aussie series pimp my boat , can the MUDSHARK be first........

    Cheers John...

we would just fill your boat up with giant kill tanks! the amount of giants you catch!

and paint it camo just to keep it authentic!

and yes all equipment is marine but from what i here sony is no longer making any marine series stuff for the while.

boat is so much more stable now its amazing and the floor is so solid now. went out 2 saturdays ago in 40 knot wind and decent swell and got hammered (ask my brother) but the boat and the floor and equipment took it perfectly! but we did get soaked like fire hose soaked!

  4. awesome...as good as if not better than a new rig...hope it brings ya many fish

thanks mate, it is better than it ever came out factory, its amazing to see the short cuts taken on some boats from factory.... but now i know everything in my boat from the hull up is perfect and re done. this is a boat that will be in this condition in years to come the marine ply was coated several times, there wasnt a short cut taken, it did cost abit its well worth it, to have it the way you want it and as practical and purposeful as you want it to be.

i cant wait to get some fish on it!

    especially some offshore fun!

its 2001 alleycraft 510 reef prince centre console

  5. thanks for putting this up for me Arman

i spent about 30 mins trying to do it!

the boat is now perfect, its so good to see people like steve do what they do

being a keen fisho he knew what to do, and what was needed to improve this boat.

it looks like a lot of weight that was added but all in all id say about 40kg, we also moved alot of the weight under the water line to add some more stability to the boat, the floors are reinforced with alot less flex than factory. this is how the boat should of come from factory. i have all my stuff in the boat and the boat feels empty thats how much storage i have and it stays away from the elements which in a centre console is very important

id like to thank steve for his time effort and workmanship, you truly are a freak.

it truly is worth every cent my boat feels and looks brand new!

thanks to my brother for all his help and recommending his mate steve to me

also thanks to my old man for his help especially for doing the impossible with a ladder that was suppose to cost me over $500 including a berly bucket. it ended up costing me $130

and thanks to mani for the help with the electrical work

a few more pics the removable ladder fro swimming and cruising

    post-6982-1241980708_thumb.jpg

this ladder is removable and will normally hold the berley bucket which is almost complete

    post-6982-1241980962_thumb.jpg

also slimey tubes fitted and wired up

  6. Mate it won't be long before he's hooking them and passing the rod to YOU !

Well done - great team effort, top fish and photos for the young bloke to remember a special fish...

Blow the photo up, sign it, date it, frame it and put it on his wall....

He'll be telling his grandkids about it bcos flatties like that are rare, and the first one carries a special magic, especially for young kids.....

    thats my Nephew

    Keflapod :074: first line gold!

i wish you passed me the Rod bro!

its great he doesnt realise how big these achievements are, he is just having fun!

from catching 61cm kingfish at the age of 2

to record size 65cm trevally and 94cm flathead at 4

when asked how big the fish was he put his hands out to indicate a fish of about 20cm! so he fishes out of enjoyment of fishing. perfect in every aspect except for the old fisherman exageration stick!

  7. Admin are still in discussions as far as FOTM.

We will probably run it without a prize for ther time being.

Pickles Auctions have decided not to renew their sponsorship after their 6 month trial. We thank them for their support & wish them all the best in the future. They were our FOTM sponsors.

    More will be known soon!!

    Cheers,

    Grant.

you guys should post up what sponsorship would cost and what you guys require from the sponsor and what benefits the sponsor gets for there money.

i think it will atract more companys and so on if they know what is involved

id like to see it back even with out a prize its good fun

Hopefully those size fish will be a little more common in a few years time once all these bloody rats grow a bit!

here's hoping mate but i fish the bay almost weekly for the last month or 2 and i dont think ive seen more than 5 rats thrown back other than on my boat! pretty dissapointing really, even on the sunday we had a go at some one who was cleaning a couple of rats under the legal limit......

    SO

  14. I always get a receipt with words to the affect that the seller agrees he is the current owner and the boat and all fittings are unencumbered and free from all finance. Description of boat and all engine numbers and trailer rego. Doesn't stop a company claiming it is theirs but may give you some recourse against a seller if they have any assets. Check with Maratime as they were getting a bit particular about the wording on receipts and dates etc which you have to show them when initially registering the boat. If it had previously been boatcoded and registered they will see who is the last registered holder and if it doesn't line up with your receipt may ask for a stat dec.

Take a copy or write down the sellers driv lic number and details and chech address actually matches where boat is or rego papers.

Have a close look at wher ethe manufacturers plates are and where the boatcode plates are and ensure that they don't seem to be tampered with or missing. You don't want to own a rebirth. The boatcode guys put them in particular spots.

Revs check as above ( not sure is it now a national database for boats or do you have to check it is not stolen from another state)

Honest sellers won't be too fussed about any of the above

thanks mate thats the info i was after any idea of waterways or maratime is open on saturdays it has passed the revs check so yeah just wanna make sure thats all

    cheers Rob

  15. ring fair trading and explain the dilema. then speak to the boss of the place telling him you have logged it with fair trading and you want a full refund or a new boat! im pretty sure you do have the rights to that. you where sold a lemon and there has to be a no lemon clause and that many problems in 6 months mate thats not satisfactory or explainable. and yeah if not ring the news shows!

good luck mate, be carm and tell them what you want and tell them this isnt what i was sold i was sold on the fact that i was getting a quality reliable boat at the right price and this isnt what you have given me so i expect it to be rectified.

by A giving me a new boat

or B giving me a full refund

they should be the only 2 options you offer.

  16. How about "stupid thing costs me too much money and due to crappy weather i never get my moneys worth back in fish profits" or am i just a bit sour at the moment?? :)

lol i do like the way you think!

    BUT

im either gonna go for anchorman or snapperhead or diversity.

anchorman cause i love the movie and it relates to boats so it works.

    diversity is also from anchorman

here is the quote from the movie.

ED HARKEN: A lot of you have been hearing the affiliates complaining about a lack of diversity on the news team.

CHAMP KIND: What in the hell's diversity?

RON BURGUNDY: Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

or SNAPPERHEAD its my favourite fish and people tell me i have a temper so it may be fitting!

i would love to call make my day but i would laugh every single time and probably sound like a tosser after a month or so of fishing time!
