Thanks... ended up picking up the Penn SpinFisher 850ssm today on sale for $99
Cheers
-
I was talking to a bloke in a tackle store the other day and he told me Penn are now made in China, as oppose to the US... just wondering how long ago the switch was made and whether i'll really notice the difference in quality of a US built Spinfisher as oppose to the Chinese made one.
Also.. Baitrunner vs Spinfisher... what's your preference ?
Thanks!

if i was u i would quickly go to BLAH BLAH BLAH and buy a mojiko 7ft tournament spin stick 2-4 kg or if ur after something heavyer look at the 3-5kg job . they are for sale $40 [usually $99 ] these fish better that some $200 rods i have used, grafite blanks with fuji guides . then while u are there buy some black magic braid [ $14 ] on sale . a 2-3000 reel $40- $60 .they also have berkley soft vibes for $1.99 a packet [ usually $11.99] . and u get 2 to a packet .
and u will still have plenty of change and an outfit u will be more than happy with .

Good to see you got some luck ^
I went out there today, caught zippppp ! Barely a nibble on my chicken breast or prawn baits. Didnt bother wasting the other baits..... The water was freezing and weather turned sour.. shame.

Fishing Berowra tommoro most likely... got chicken breast, prawns, mullet gut.... hopefully get a few mullet for bait too. Wish me luck!!

LOL... the other day, i was watching Master Chef with my sister and they had a 'name the fish' challenge. I was being all cocky and smashing all the fish names (they were all very easy), until fish 5.... my sister said "Salmon" and I said "Trout".... i looked like an idiot

My uncle spoke to a guy who was fishing for Bull Sharks near Roseville...... needless to say, he lost his voice trying to scream out to some old bloke taking his grandkids out for a mid afternoon dip !!
-
I'm hoping to head out to Berowra Waters this week... will be targeting Bream with chicken and mullet gut. Will be fishing the rocky shorelines and moored boats, as mentioned above. Will tell u how i go !
Did you end up fishing there this week ??

Smaller Squidgy Flickbait in Flashprawn for Flathead. 5 inch Berkley Jerkshads work well for Bigger Flatties too.
-
Few nice fish there mate, congrats.
I always seem to have more success with Berkley plastics as oppose to Squidgies, but I like to persist with them lol

You beauty !!! Great catch on light gear champ!
-
Yeh always good fun to watch anyway. Rule of thumb - when i travel, the rod comes with (even if i'm just going to a mates place ) I was swimming at Terrigal a few weeks ago and about 10 meters from me, a small school of what i beleived to be salmon began busting up on the surface. Was awesome while it lasted !
Next time mate, next time...

Thanks boys....and well done Iceman....
We are heading to Nambucca Heads in the morning for two weeks....look out fish eye's comin to get ya!!!!!
Was there before xmas, plenty of fish around - but they were all under sized. Probably cause im not that good at fishing.... Fishing near the "V" wall in the river, hooked up with a big stingray on 10lb line and having never caught anything over 40cm, i was so excited that i tried to slow it down with spool and ...... It was taking my out to sea! and it probably wouldve ran off with the all my line.
Sometimes there are good fish under the board walk. I was there the first day and silly me forgot to pack the lure bag and i was distraught. By the time express post got them up there, the fish were gone.
Watch out for the drunks though, my mum was in the car as we were packing the gear up and a bunch of drunks began jumping on the bonnet.

I have a clear Rebel Popper. Couldnt get a fish or even a hit from Whiting/Bream even though i could see schools of them
-
Nice fish there mate, but i certainly wouldnt eat a Parra River Bream. Systems take many years to recover from dumping of toxic waste.
-
Ive only been on one charter before and it wasnt even outside the heads, but the operators should have the common sense to atleast admit they made a bad judgement on the weather and charge half or if they did know the whether would be dodgy, the trip should not have gone ahead.
-
Yeh plenty out there mate, shame about them taking your livies though
-
At night - try a handline with a bream hook (no sinker), covered with a cube of rump steak. The bream with pick it up and swim with it for a bit, so give it a bit of slack - then strike !

Fitness/Gym Junkie = iFitness
Navigation = TomTom App (Will only work with iPhone cause it has a built in GPS, unless you have a TomTom car kit thing). I suggest you be certain it will work first as it costs like $80. There are a few cheaper competitors out there too
BAC = AlcoholCalc - only an estimate but may come in handy after a few
Transit Sydney and Day Tides are both FREE!! and are great

Yeah the doco is called "SuperFish" i think.. The juvenile billfish they show on the doco, doesnt look like the fish being ID'd here but.
