try not to battle the fish straight away, instead gently pull him away with the boat in drive into clear water. Then stick it to him.

How far off shore do you go from Edan? Or is it in close?
-
Penguin- we were out there on Easter Monday- down rigging Squid, we got smoked a few times. One King took us under the rocks so far- that my braid was frayed 5 metres past the 2m leader.

Good stuff- and yes there are way to MANY things we should be grateful for and not granted for.

grrrrrrrr have the Shimano Symetry at 30% off, well that was on thursday night I saw. So it comes down from $185 to $130. They had 4000, 2500 and 1000 sized reels.
Theyre not a bad little reel.
Wow you cant even mention another brand.

you have a great angle to hit him up with now, and im sure he was thinking about what you were doing before you were there!

I was lucky enough to catch a surgeon on my 3rd drop. Using 30lb braid and 50lb leader. They certainly make your reel sing.

So where to you park there to get to the ledges?
North side of the club or south? Or am I not even close?

throw a pille out with no hook- let the squid grab it- then switch over back to your jig.

How do you rig and work these octopus lures?
(line)--------------(float)O(sinker)o(swivel)<>(line)---------------------------------(lure)+++
cast out and retrive, works like a popper. On the stall between retrives- the octopus legs flair out and the bonnies hit.

I was there Monday 4th and tuesday 5th- at Swansea caravan park.
We fished out at Lake Maq- both days. My bro hooked and landed 92cm jew on the Sunday before I arrived.
Monday couldnt catch cold.
Tuesday we got 3 flatties, on soft plastics on 3inch Gulps. Anything that has a moving tail on it, seems to work better than anything else. We worked very hard to get them.
We just do drifts across the lake- as there was nothing consistent.
Bread will work on the flats at sunset across the flats. Just find a deep patch and you can have fun without the boat atleast.
We had fresh squid out also, but no Kings.

I was in Botany bay today- pretty tought there to. No Kings, but small patches of Tailor were around, but the were very fussy.

It's a saltwater fly rod, so all good on the corrosion part. It's probably too stiff, but hey, if it catches fish...
I'm yet to try it off the rocks using the side cast.
The flatties are still there, I suspect deeper water and you'd have to donk them on the head for a strike.
I think the burner is up at the van, but I've brought the smoker and chips back to Sydney with me. Oh well, next lot.
Glad you threw back the big flatty- not many people would.

It's like many things. If you drink coke each day and then one day you wake and say- why the hell am I drinking coke. Same with women.

Awesome work. Gotta love those days. Cant wait for my turn.

Sounds very promising and a mid week blast. Nice work.

Paul I feel like giving you a hug and dont even know you. That is a sensational report and a fisho story that will live for quite some time. Freakish circumstances to say the least.
Congrats.
