  1. Offering company, enthusiasm and petrol costs. Hi, I'm Wendy. Live in Sydney, keen to get out and do a bit of boat fishing. Available most days, with a little notice. Can travel if you're on a train or bus route. Am not the greatest fisherchick, but am hoping to improve. Happy to help out with petrol costs, help on board and help clean too.

  2. Hey Timmy97,

I'm keen to join you in your fishing trips.

Have a few years experience but largely landfishing around Sydney or kayaking.

But if you're looking for enthusiastic company who's happy to share costs and clean up, check out my "Sydney Fishin'Chick keen to ..." one post below yours.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Cheers!

    Wendy

  3. Hi I'm Wendy.

Have a couple of years under my belt but haven't been out for ages and am keen to get back to it.

Free pretty much anytime, keen to be company or to be a decky (even though I'm not sure exactly what that means).

Would love to join someone on a boat (not wild about going out far to sea on a choppy day but love river or calm sea fishing) or bank fishing.

I'm really enthusiastic but no expert. Am keen to learn more ... and spend time with other fishers.

Happy to share petrol costs and offer homemade cookies as a sweetener.

Have access to public transport only ,, but wherever the train and bus will go I will.

Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from you soon.

P.S Specialise in baking NZ favourites.

Forgot to say that am happy to travel up to Woy Woy or Gosford if anyone up there is interested in giving a keen Kiwi a go!

Just need a day or two of notice.

    Thanks

  4. Thanks Ceph

I am still pretty bad with plastics so will follow your advice. :1prop:

Since no one else is offering, I will put in my $0.02. :biggrin2:

I don't know the Entrance but, what I will say is that you need to find drop offs and structure. You can tell by the colour of the water what the bottom is doing and I would be fishing those drop offs with rubbers for a flattie or two! This time of year you will need to work the area well as with the cold, the fish's metabolism slows right down and they can be lazy.

Pumpkinseed Pogy on a 9 gram head is a great lure for Flatties. Plenty of erratic sharp movements in the retireve and keep the lure in contact with the bottom.

Winter Whiting can also be great sport not to mention their table qualities. Live tube worms fished around the flats on high tide should give you some action. If it is early morning, later arvo or overcast, all the better!

    Good luck Wendyb. :1prop:

  5. Thanks reeltired

will do my best :1fishing1: IF the weather holds out :1prop:

    Not sure what gear you have but here are a few options;

    * The entrance itself has heaps of fish (mostly undersized) that can be caught when the flow slows down ie. high and low tide which is about 2-3 hours later than the time the tide charts say that it will occur. There are usually plenty of blackfish there too but you usually need specialist gear for them.

Get some fresh live bait like worms or yabbies from one of the local bait shops and fish the "slack" water and you're bound to catch something. Even the blackfish love the yabbies.

    * The north entrance beach is an awsome place to fish. Cast into a deep hole or the edge of one where the flow isn't belting along the beach sideways. Worms and yabbies can get you bream. whiting and flathead. A pilchard or a large piece of one could get you tailor, salmon or flathead. This stretch of beach has everything from tiny whiting to huge (up to 40kg) Mulloway. You could also try throwing lures into the deep holes for tailor, salmon (common at the moment) and flathead. the tailor usually only come in at dawn and dusk.

    Hope this is some help.

    hey reeltired!

do you have any tips for a boat fish at THe Entrance?

(hopefully gonna hire one if the wind is OK tomorrow)

    Thanks

  6. just by itself?

or should i put it in a berley bag?

It works well. I have used whiskas canned stuff..pilchards and anchovies and its pretty good. But it can be messy and smelly. If you use the dry pellets all they do is feed the gulls as it takes a while for them to sink. What works just as well and less messy are the large sausage rolled shape dog food in the fridge at the supermarket. They are cheap and easier to cut up and chuck out.

  7. Indeed they are. Tony from Fishfinder and Ross Hunter are in the midst of organising to take raiders out on 3 boats. There will be 18 places available I believe.

Watch the forums for the news on this event.

You may express an interest by posting so here :) or sending me a pm

i'd suggest you fill out your profile or even write a little spiel on yourself in here.

You will find that people in general will be more willing if they know a bit about you.

    Hi Chris,

Well we are two Surry Hills (not a lotta water around our neck of the woods) gals who usually fish with limited success at Blues Point and Bobbin Head.

We have ventured as far afield as The Entrance (where we caught heaps of flatties) and Hervey Bay, where we have access to a tinny and did some sea fishing and some river fishing.

As I said, I'm not that good, but my friend is pretty good ... although somehow I manage to luck in on a big fish occasionally.

We've been fishing around our two Sydney spots for about a year and are sick of them now so thought we would see if anyone fancied some company on a fish ... so we could learn a bit more about what's around in Sydney and some lucky :1prop: person could have some company.

I'm sure you'll enjoy being part of Fishraider and it will not be long before you're posting some great reports.

It may help to find someone to take you out if they know what type of fishing you are interested in and in which area of Sydney you are based. Do you have your own gear? Have you fished much before etc.?

I'm sure someone will help you out.

    Good luck

    cheers

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Yep, we have rods and hooks :1prop:

But seriously, we have the gear and are not fussy about what we catch.

    All catches are good!

I am still learning, my mate is much better :1badmood:

We can pretty much get to any part of Sydney because we have wheels (but, alas, no boat).

  10. Anyone want a couple of relative newbies as company in their boat on /around Sydney waters on the weekend of May 24/25?

MAY MAY MAY, not JUNE. We're keen to pay for petrol if anyone wants company for a fish.

We have wheels so can travel ...

Dodgy jokes and many questions provided free of charge. :1fishing1:
