  1. Have you left Caloundra? Where can we find you now?

    Joe

Whiting are fairly common on SP's, especially good whiting when chasing bream.

I've had some good 'goon session chasing whiting on small grugs with the tail dipped in pink garlic scent, it's pretty much one fish per cast.

  2. The fee he might have been referring to I think no longer applies. Initially a license was charged, but some years ago the licensing of both systems (27 Meg and VHF) was changed to a Class Type of license without a fee. I think the fee paid for the VHF repeaters that were built.

Dont think it's applicable any longer.

  5. HI all,

I went out on Mon at about lunch just on the turn of the tide. Put in at Powerboat club at Caloundra. A lot of boats were heading in, but there stil wasn't many parking spots. Headed for the banks opposite Bulcock Beach and trolled around for an hour or two with hard plastic and prawns. There was a fella there in small tinny that had landed a few lizards. But not me. To be honest it was just nice to be out in the sun. Had a mechanical problem that had me pulling the control box down and fixing the cointrol lever.

There was another dude who had anchored over a sand bank and nearly got stuck. Took him about 10 minutes to get off. If he was any longer he would have been there till very late.

I was surfing channel 96 calling for any "Fish Raiders: in the area but there was no responses. Wasa any one out from 12-4pm yesterday?

Headed back in at about 4 and came across a few others that had also bagged a few 50ish cm flattys at the mouth of Bell Creek and across from Golden beach on the Bribie side.

Boat is running very well, have tuned it and now it idles very nicely when trolling. Unfortunately it is a bit fast to troll so i will rig up my auxiliary soon.

    Had a lovely day.

  6. Which end JoeM? North or south ?

Hi Ken, didn't end up getting out. No money or fuel. I would probably start with the north end. Like I said I'm new to the area. Probably put in near power boat club.

I tuned my engine on Saturday and she is running sweet. Spent a bit more time than usual on the points and got the gap right and boy its made a difference. Had to change idle screw. Sounds different even. Might try again next sunday.

  7. ...I like the anticipation leading up to the day...

Iain 3:58 (sounds like a bible verse)

I can relate to this the most. I like reading and thinking about it, playing with the motor and toys, buying and trying new rigs and the sleepless night before I head out. All, in anticipation of the day or few hours you spend out.

  8. Hi All, I was just reading through this thread and I came across the question "How do I resize my photos". It doesn't really seem that it has been addressed, but i thought with new people always joinging it wouldn't hurt to go over it again.

Windows XP (or Microsoft Office to be more accurate) has a program called Microsoft Photo Editor. It has a resize function (Image -> resize). When I take a photo with my camera the photo is about 1Mbyte and would be about 2300x1700 pixels (20x15cm's roughly).

If you can change the size by pixels, you can get it down to 800x600 its automatically scale the picture down. Its size in cm will be about 6.7x5cms. When you resave the picture rename it do you dont copy over your original.

Your new picture will be about 100k, ten timnes smaller that the original and still very viewable on thhe internet.

I've added the picture to illustrate the poiint.

    Hope this helps.

    And then I said:

Work in caloundra and live in Conondale. Just behind melany for the uninitiated.

I've got a 4.5 metre Stejcrart with a 1975 40hp evinrude. Not fished much up here yet. Been in the area for about 8 weeks. Moved up from Redland. I used to fish in and around southern moreton bay. Never has resounding luck. Occasional bream or flatty and sting ray. More of a boatie then a fisherman.

Went out with a local the other day to "twelve mile" and had a good day. Brought in our legal quota of Pearl perch and I caught a nice Cobia. I've attached a few pics from my trip.

Anyhow I'm keen for a weekend night time fish if anyone wants to pair up of if your organising another trip.

So who is this Ken and whats his secret to catching 9 fish.

    Cheers

  10. Hi all,

I have yet to surface my ugly mug but have been watching this thread and was going to come down if I felt well enough. Whole fam have had a cold all weekend and felt like crud. How did everyone do. Was it a good day or a bit ordinary. I've heard froma few locals that the sand bank from bribie opposite bulcock beach has been sporting some whiting on high tides.

    Cheers
