  1. Boatart the kids wouldn't be fishing as they are only young (6 5, and 2). I have been to Vanuatu before and really enjoyed it. If I decide on Vanuatu I will definately take you up on your offer regarding charter companies.

One of the reasons I was thinking of Fiji is that the kids clubs in the resorts are great fun. It has something for everyone (plus great fishing)

thank you all for your advice

  2. I have got my 40th coming up this year and rather than putting a party on and being left with a mess to clean up I have decided to go fishing for a week. So my question is where would you go? This will be a July / Augsut trip.

So far I am thinking either Vanuatu or Fiji. The one proviso is that the wife and kids will be coming along so a live a board will probably be out of the question.

    thanks all

  3. Appreciate the advice. I have just bought a new outfit and loaded it with 4.4 lb braid and 8lb leader. I have never fished with plastics before so I am keen to snag my first fish.

I live near ettalong. The sand flats around here are pretty good for the flatties

  4. Not too bad - Like you I am still trying to familarise myself with the area. I scored 2 at Wagstaffe and nil at hardy's bay. I them moved over to Empire Bay and got another 2. All in all it was a top day to be out fishing. I was talking to an old guy about fishing Wagstaffe and he told me that years ago you had to book your spot it was that busy.

It's funny how times change - we had the spot totally to ourselves

  5. Nearmap's images are very current (they take a new photo every month), and they have allow you to scroll back through the old images. I find this helps a lot when seeing what change a spot has had over a period of time. I don't necessarily prefer it over google maps, but like to use the both of them. They each have their own uses

    Hope this helps

  6. Hi Gatts

    Thanks for the info.

Might give Hardy's Bay a go on the run in tide. One rod for blackies and one with a floated nipper out wide.

I know the spot you are talking about to get the nippers too..pumping nippers is a lot of fun with the kids there

Worse case I can walk across to the bottle shop :biggrin2:

  7. Ok the stars have aligned and I am set to target blackies this weekend. I am currently putting a plan together and I am thinking of trying Davistown.

My question is "what wharf?" in Davistown. I have looked on nearmap.com and it looks like the one on Amy street would be perfect.

ANy fished this spot before? If so any advice would be awesome and very much appreciated

    enjoy your day all

  8. Can anyone point me in the direction of a map that specifically shows you what areas are a no fish zone in the Putty beach area (bouddi national park)?

I want to fish for drummer off Little Beach (south of Putty beach). I have never fished here before but it looks good.

If anyone wants to join me or can point me in the right direction of a fish or too you are more than welcome to come along

    Thanks guys

  9. I use to live near Maroubra and fished that spot frequently...i really miss it... They are a heap of fun off the beach and really give it you.

I am now at Umina. I managed to get out on Tuesday and managed a few from Wagstaffe. I tried Woy Woy baths earlier on but with no luck.

If anyone lives near me and want to catch up for a spot of blackfishing let me know. Weed up our way is a bit light on at the moment though. Not even Umina bait and Tackle had any for sale.....If anyone knows a spot to get it up my way PM me, otherwise it's a long drive to San Souci

    all the best

  10. Don't know about jewies but I have fished it recently for a blackies and did ok. Bait is a bit hard to find at the moment though. With limited bait I managed 2 in 20mins

If the winds are South then it can get a bit "blown out", Hardy's Bay would be a better better option.

hope this helps (and if you know where the green weed is growing please let me know)

  11. Nice going Ray! Is that the lake that runs out towards the beach? If so I have seen guys that wade out to waist high water just to wet a line.

Looks like a lot of fun too. It's amazing what a loaf of bread will catch.

  12. That is a twisted and cruel question Royce. If you were ever put in that position, there would be enough leftover rods for each person on this forum :biggrin2:

    However to answer your question

my 3144 one piece rock rod (thanks royce) for the blackies matched to my alvey (the one your dad gave me)

my MT7144 for pigs matched to my 650bc alvey

my daiwa blackfish rod (grandfather hand me down) with my centrepin (thankss again for that one royce  )

hope all is well with the foot

when you are better you will have to come up for a session of 4

  13. Nice going Paul. You tell a good story.

It's good to see you guys are still getting amongst them. I haven't chased them for a while now and reading all these reports is making me very hungry for a drift.

Royce hope all is going well with the foot.

    over and out

  14. Well done on the fish. It goes to show that persistance really pays off.

That's a fair walk you have done. So not only have you managed a fish but you have managed to squeeze some exercise in as well :biggrin2: .

Hey Squidin if you don't mind telling me where abouts do you get your whiting at Woy Woy. I just moved to the area and I am searching high and low for some good spots. I tried using bloodworms just to the left of where you launch your boat on Fathers day and managed a few fish but they were only small ones.

congrats once again on the fish
