  1. Hi Mate,

I work at a tackle store and five lures that i would recommend that myself and customers have reported success with are:

    Maria Japan - Mj-1 D70F Size: 70mm Weight: 5.6g Depth 2.0m

    RMG Lures- Suspending Scorpion 1.4m

    Viking Lures - 48mm Crank Minnow - 3g rainbow

TT Switchblades - 1/8 - all colors seem to work

Sinking Lipless Minnow 50mm clear white color -

These lures used around weed beds, sand flats and rock bars will produce good results and are easy to use.

  2. Will you be boat or landbased?

Got a house on the lake but never done much boat fishing. Plenty of shore based mainly with powerbait. Simple rig of running ball sinker to swivel with light trace and small hook to single piece of powerbait (fluoro green worked best). Have caught one or two flat lining tassie devils but thats about the extent of my boat fishing up there.

Water level still very good up there too.

    Cheers

    Caine

Thanks heaps for the info mate! Ill be a mix of boat and landbased. Im heading out to pick up some power bait now and a couple of tassies to try as well.

  3. Hey Guys,

Im heading out to Lake Lyell this arvo for the weekend, i have never been there before and was just wondering what the fishing is like and what would be the best way to fish it. If anyones been out there and has any tips i would appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Slimymac

  4. Yep thats deffiently a blind shark. They are actually quite common when fishing off the rocks anyware in NSW im not to sure about other states but i have encountered lots when rock fishing.

  5. Well done on your first. I'm yet to get off the mark but have been hitting the beach hard for several months now with livies, and strategies learnt from fellow Raiders posts, so hopefully not too long, if I can keep the sharks away from my bait.

"HAD A SMELL OF HIM TO KNOW WHAT THE FAMOUS JEW SCENT WAS ABOUT"

Huh? I've read a lot of Jew posts but I don't recall reading anything about this. What's that about? Also what are the jewels?

There is nothing like the smell of a Jewie. Ive caught jewfish 10cm long and there smell still fills the boat even once they back in the water. I work at a tackle/seafood shop and when i walk in a can tell if we have fresh jewfish in by the smell. Nothing like a Jewie smell. Anyone no why they have such a distinct smell?

Ps: Nice job on your first jewie!

  6. Taking my girlfirend out on the boat tomoz need to impress her with some nice fish :074: . Havn't had time to go out for a while so what's biting well at the moment  ? 8. G'day

was fishing off the rocks (not quite the beach) off the northen beaches and its not to bad at the moment. with winter here there is alot of drummer and i got a few good size ones as well as a large bream. Theres alot of rubbishfsh around such as sweep, wrasse and blind sharks. But i caught 2 nice sized leather jackets as well. havn seen any samon or tailor but a huge sting ray id say round 1 and a half - 2 meters swam right up to the rocks where i was fishing which was a great sight. it was alot of fun a good change from out of the boat. so you should do well off the beach.

  9. Dont exsist??? i caught a 1.7 metre one a few weeks ago but there is deffinetly not as much as there was ten years ago the theory goes that they are being netted outside before they make it in to cowan creek. apparently the asian community love them and they sell for lots overseas.
