The currents are so strong a week leading up and afterwards it puts the fish of the bite for that period of time. If there's surface action chase it!..lol.
Keep trying it again around the full moon and you'll get the idea.

Next outing make sure there is no Full Moon....Rule No.1 when planning you next trip....
You will notice the difference!

No.1 Tip - Never fish 4 days either side of the Full Moon as the tides have such a large movement it puts the fish off the bite...especially in the Hawkesbury..
Remember this when planning your next trip and you won't be disappointed!

It was put up because people can not clean up after themselves by the City of Canada Bay Council.
Complaints were made to them by locals and hence the bands. More will come.

One of the best eating fish, only hassel is cleaning them but it's worth it.
No bone and great for the kids done in a light batter.

Hi All,
Went out on Saturday expecting the worse from the winds but managed to shelter away from it.
Started at Flint and Steel but no luck as the windes were up around the 25 knot mark.
Headed inland away from the winds and after the tide change we hooked into these Shovel Nose Sharks.
So much fun and a great feed.

Managed to get out on the harbour yesterday afternoon and headed to Clifton Gardens at around 6pm.
On our arrival there had to be about 8 boats within a 50 meter radius...
As we got closer to see if any one was catching anything they were into small Rat Kingfish no bigger than 50cm's.
All of the catches were under size but the most frustrating thing was that they KEPT THEM...
We anchored further back and ended up with a bag of legal Flatheads and Flounders.
Where are the NSW Fisheries??? Hiding in the Bushes at Brooklyn Boat Ramp??....

How many hours has the engine done?
If it is just your oils and filters that need doing you can do it yourself for a fraction of the price.

I've only done under 10 hours since the last service and I like to keep the log book stamped and up to date.
The engine has under 50 hours.

Hi All,
Need to get my Yamaha 4 stroke serviced and I can't get hold of my regular bloke.
I prefer a mobile mechanic because I can't justify taking and leaving the boat at dealer for over a week for
a service which takes an hour.

Hi all.
Went out on Sunday morning, Conditions were perfect and tide was good.
Started biting after the turn of tide at 7.30am and didn't stop till 12pm.
Haven't had this much fun for ages. Took an hour to clean them at the ramp.
Great day and looking forward to the next outing weather permitting.

Went out this morning for a quick session on a mates boat under the Gladesville Bridge. Not much on to a hour before the change of tide.
Then suddenly 2 rods went off within 10 seconds of each other. Lost the first hook up but managed the second.
Came in at 68cm. Ended up with 4 Bream, a Blue Swimmer Crab and the King Fish.
Can't wait till next week.

Headed down to berowra today to launch the little boat that can only to find that quite a few of the car AND trailer spots were taken up by inconsiderate picnicers, resturaunt goes or just people in general who lack a BOAT TRAILER to park in the car AND TRAILER parking area. After sitting around watching about 10 other people circling the carpark looking for a spot for their car AND TRAILER after launching i decided to just up my gear and leave. I couldnt be bothered making the trip all the way down to boundary road and back up to brooklyn only to have the same problem.
I knew it was going to be busy and if the entire carpark was taken up by cars with boat trailers i wouldnt be so upset, it would be my own stupid fault for sleeping in an extra hour.
Im going to the pub to watch the Cricket, i hope everyone else has good holiday as i hope the next half of my day is much better than this morning.

Good to see Inspectors checking catches on boats returning to Brooklyn Boat Ramp(Parsely Bay). If only they were at Sydney Harbour Boat Ramps!
Measure your catches and watch your bag limits or wear a minimum $200 fine for each undersize fish.

Just a quick note for those poor guys who rocked up today to go fishing and had to be turned away from Drummoyne Boat ramp. It has been closed since the 21st for an overdue upgrade. Completion TBA.

Went out at 6am. Fished around Rosebay/Chowder Bay. Heard a fishing report that morning that the harbour is holding heaps of Port Jackson Sharks. Ended up catching and releasing 3 up to 12kg each. Great fight on light line but ended up taking home flatheads and tailors. Can't wait for warmer waters this season.

Went out Saturday morning. Launched the boat at Drummoyne ramp at 5.30 and headed to Clifton Gardens dodging Cruise Liners on the Harbour. 20 other boats around but they soon left.
4 hour session and a bucket full of bream. No Kingfish but a 45cm Tailor and a couple of flatties.
Weather looks good for another session this Saturday.

I would firstly see if some you know in the local area who may have a VHF radio and that could communicate with you.
This would then allow you to do a process of elimination.
1. It would only be an issue with the radio if it has had any water penetration and is getting old as they may need to be re-calibrated or a general service .This would be recommend because they can check out put power and modulation (Voice) to see if there are any problems and realine them.
2. Microphones will or will not work. Static does not come from microphones.
3. Check the antenna connection for corrosion, if in doubt cut it of and resolder a new one on (you can buy them from Dick Smith). This will not affect the pre tuned antenna providing you don't cut off more than 15cm of coax cable.
If you need someone to look at the installation contact your local coast guard, or buy a GME Radio.

Absolutely! With the currents running so fast between the tides it spooks the fish to put them off the bite. Lesson No.1 - Never Fish 5 days either side of a full moon!
One to remember for next trip!
