Being a local and also working in fairfield myself and a few of the guys have also done waterways around the area and have got good bream .bass, lizards and to my knowledge im the only one who's got a Silver perch outa the area.
We have even seen a Cod in chippo lake and a red eared turtle, foxes and even seen a small rat taked by a bass one night up liverpool weir.
So there are good fish to be had if you find the right area's....good luck with the fishin.
You can park you car and walk down the weir with you canoe, they just finished work on the weir which lets you put in with ease now.
used to live in the area too.
this report reminds me back 80-90's. i used to go fishing after school in Orphan school creek from Avoca rd, Fairfield west to Railway Pde, Canley vale. used to catch carps, guppy, eels and some turtles.

Very nice, LOVE the sounder!!!
hi Rob, very nice looking rig you have there.
love the scenery, big open spaces, neighbour are more than an arms reach away.
hope you dont mind me asking are you in NSW or another state? what area or suburb is that?
i'm in Prestons, Liverpool and the home are so compact next to each other that you can basically open your bedroom window and knock on next doors.

Mondo,
Thanks for another great day on the water. The conditions were fantastic but the fish wouldn't come out and play. Mate, my feet are still cold that was unbelievable and I won't being doing that again without gumboots or something.
It is very difficult catching a feed at this time of the year but September is my favourite time for chucking plastics at the flat fellows so bring on Spring.
I will spend the weekend detailing the boat ready to put on the net for sale. Yes, it is time to UPGRADE. Of course we will still have to go for a fish but I may have to ban the bait.
Regards, Hutcho
hi Ray, just wondering where is the boat ramp located, that you have in photo 6?
thanks

I went out to the show over the week to have a look around, even though the show was not as big as last year it was great to see what the dollar can buy and boy do we need alot of $$$$ to satisfy our fishing needs.
Looked at the AQUAMASTER ALLOY BOATS and was impressed by the layout and overall build.
Just wondering if any members own or know much about these boats, the 5.30mt and 6.0 looked the goods?
Marcel
any pics of it you can post up?

Cheap squid jigs work Ok - sometimes, but for consistent results the more expensive jigs will work better everytime. IMO the Yamashita jigs in natural colors produce the best results, my 1st choice is green/gold & 2nd is white with black stripes
hi, just wondering if the cloth or painted jig would be better to purchase?
are there any differences between the cloth or painted jigs? performance or life of usage as i noted a few post back some members mentioned how the squid can attack the jigs and wear them out.
thanks

Go the kids!
They have kidpower - something we lose once we decide santa clause isn't real.
They have a sense of creativity, a sense of adventure and enthusiasm that we have long forgotten.
They see the magic of a place, especially if it's new - the new smells, the landscape, the water, the sand and the excitement they feel just radiates from their eyes.
Their mind goes into overdrive and they know exactly what they need to catch a fish - any fish. A stick, some length of line, a hook and a bit of something the fish might eat.
Believe me, they'll remember that day when they are YOUR age and telling the story to THEIR kids.
God love them....
hmmm, wouldnt it be nice to be young again. when simple things can bring some much joy.
brings back memories of going down to the local creek using a spool of cotton thread (i kid you not) as fishing line and hook with bread for bait, catching eels and carp..

WOW, isn't that great. i originally enjoyed reading and receiving tips/advice as well as reports from this site, also the social days arranged by Admin. but now hearing to what length Pelican went thru to help a fellow raider just goes to show what a top site this is.
great work Pelican. cheers

good report Roberta, seem like you can catch anything you have a crack at.
only wish that was the same for me!
your one tought woman in regards to the hook. had a friend hooked himself once, when all pale like a ghost after he had removed it.

Congratulations and well deserved.

Thanks guys for organising a great day. My 2 mates and i had a great time. It was our 1st fishraider social, and we learnt alot today, hopefully we will get good results using the techniques that we learnt today.
Big thank you to Admin, Donna and Stewy for organising the event, another notch for why FISHRAIDER is a top site. Also, a big thank you to facilitator Chris (AERO), you did a great job explaining and informing us newbies how to get started and using SP, also for taking us on the water and having a crack at what we just leant. great day out, we arrived home all nice and red (burnt) but it was well worth it.
THANK YOU.
